LACHSA Launches Walk for the Arts
As you all know, today officially begins our LACHSA: Walk for the Arts. Our students have received their pledge kits, the website LACHSA.walkforthearts.org, is now live, and we are poised to make this walk a huge success. I want to remind our community how essential additional revenue is in these uncertain times. Our arts programs are in real jeopardy and we need to everything we can to preserve this defining feature of LACHSA.
I have been so inspired by the financial support of our families. To date, and with the extraordinary work of our Arts High Foundation, our families have contributed nearly 250K to support our arts programs. This impressive and unprecedented amount speaks to the commitment of our families, but more importantly to the value LACHSA represents to the community.
As impressive as this is, our budget currently allows us to fund our arts faculty. This is and continues to be our priority; these arts professionals infuse our school with unparalleled expertise and experience and have helped shape this school into a beacon of arts education for the region and the country.
Our LACHSA: Walk for the Arts will ensure that our productions and exhibitions will continue and will continue to keep LACHSA a world-class institution.
Darryl Piggott Returns to LACHSA
I am thrilled to report that Darryl Piggot will return to LACHSA's math faculty on October 6th. His brief absence left a hole in the community and we are all excited to have him return to the family.
Spohomore and Junior Parent Meetings Rescheduled
We have rescheduled these important meetings for Tuesday, October 5th in CSULA's King Hall Lecture Hall 1.
Sophomores 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.
Juniors 7:00 - 8:00 p.m.
These important grade-level meetings, led by our counseling team, outline the scope of the year--with important dates and benchmarks--and provide parents insight into how best to support students at LACHSA.
PSAT is Saturday, October 16th.
Some of you may have noticed that this date is a change from several weeks ago. As you all know, securing dedicated space for LACHSA can be very difficult in the best of times. Although, we are not always able to notify parents of every change in date and time of some events, we do want to ensure that any changes are made in advance. Significant investment in our virtual home means that information can be accessed anytime and any place on lachsa.net and I want to encourage everyone in our community to consult this valuable resource on a daily basis.
