Dear LACHSA Community,
Thank you to everyone--students, families, faculty, and staff--for making our first week of school so successful. As we prepare for our Back to School Night, I wanted to take this opportunity to update you on the status of our arts programs.
Thanks to the unyielding support from our families and our Arts High Foundation, I am pleased to report that we have raised sufficient funds to preserve all of our arts classes and arts faculty. This is no small achievement. The fact that our families have made such unprecedented contributions in this very difficult economic climate is a testament to the value of LACHSA's arts programs.
While our commitment to prioritizing our arts faculty and classes has been realized it is crucial that we continue our aggressive fundraising efforts to ensure that our performances, productions, and exhibitions are preserved and strengthened as well. I want to acknowledge the tremendous fortitude and steadfast leadership of our arts department chairs--Gina Buntz, Dan Castro, Lois Hunter, Leslie Karten, Gary Soerensen, and Ron Walsh. Their strong efforts and strategic accommodations have ensured that LACHSA's arts programs will continue to set the standard for arts high schools around the country.
The real winners, however are the students we serve. I am so thrilled that LACHSA will continue to cultivate the next generation of artists and scholars. Please find attached our agenda for Back to School Night on Tuesday, September 7th at 6:30 p.m.
