Dear LACHSA Community,

Yesterday afternoon at approximately 4:45 p.m. one of our students was physically assaulted in parking structure F at CSULA.  Other than receiving a few scratches and bruises, and being understandably shaken, our student is resting at home.  Our first and most important priority is to ensure the physical and emotional safety of our students.  I want you all to be aware of what we are doing in response to this horrible incident and what we can do to ensure the safest possible campus environment for our students.
The perpetrator has not been apprehended as yet, but we are working with CSULA police.  His physical description is as follows:

Male, late 20s, slim build (fair complexion)
Short, black hair, with spikes

We have been in continuous contact with CSULA Police and per their recommendation we have reviewed important safety information for our students.  CSULA Police has also added one additional officer in response to increase campus patrols in response to this.

I urge you to reinforce the following guidelines at home:

Emergency
Please call campus police in an emergency at 323.343.3700.  Students should program this number in their cell phones.  CSULA Police recommend this over 911 which can result in station routing delays.

Never Walk Campus Alone
Because CSULA is an open campus, anyone can enter the campus.  Students are urged to always travel with at least one other LACHSA student--especially to parking locations.

If You Need An Escort
If you find yourself alone please contact Eagle Patrol.  This service, operated by CSULA police will send someone to escort you safely to your location.  Their number is 323.343.3700 (same as campus police).  All students should program their cell phones with this information.

Report Suspicious Activity
Please contact a LACHSA administrator immediately if you observe any suspicious activty by anyone on campus.
Thankfully these kinds of incidents are very rare on our campus--this is the first such incident in my time as principal.  We must, however remain aware at all times mindful of our safety.  Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or additional concerns.

Sincerely,

George Simpson
LACHSA Principal
