We had a blast this morning with our Welcome Back celebration!  Huge thanks to all the faculty, staff, students, and parents, for our high-energy, back-to-school beginning. 

LACHSA (not Arts High)

Today we unveiled to our student body--to rousing cheers-- the return to LACHSA.  Beginning today we will be phasing out Arts High as the name of our school.  The official name of our school is and will continue to be the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, LACHSA.  Special thanks to Ewa Martinoff, LACHSA Parent Council president, for her work with our return to LACHSA.

LACHSA Community Handbook

Today all students received a LACHSA planner, their schedule, and a LACHSA Community Handbook.  For this year we have one handbook that incorporates all relevant information and policies about all aspects of LACHSA-academics, arts, and whole school.  All students are required to review the handbook with their families, and return the signed consent form (located at the back of handbook) no later than Friday, September 11^th to their first period teacher.  This handbook is also available online at our new website www.lachsa.net under the 'about us" tab.

Although we will review this handbook during school we ask for your cooperation in making sure you and your child understand what is contained within the handbook. 

Back to School Night

Our annual Back-to-School Night for parents is Tuesday, September 15^th from 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. Come meet your child's teacher, learn about classes and services, and meet other LACHSA parents in one fun-filled night!

Lockers

Beginning Wednesday, September 9^th lockers will be available to all of our students.  Students should see Jerille Sardoma in the main office to secure a locker after 12:35 p.m..  There is a $5 (cash only) fee for a lock.

Schedule Changes

Students may only request schedule changes using our Schedule Change Request Form, which may be picked up from the main office, the College Center (counselor's office) or from academic faculty.  These forms must be submitted to the College Center.  Unfortunately, not all requests can be accommodated, and revised schedules can be picked up outside of the College Center.  Please note: Under no circumstances will students be seen during class hours at the College Center for schedule changes.

Attendance Procedures (New)

In an effort to improve the efficiency of our office staff we have changed our excused absence protocol.  Beginning September 2009 all absences must be excused using our new Excused Absence/Early Dismissal Form.  Please obtain this form from the main office or download this form from our new website www.lachsa.net under the parent portal tab.  Phone calls will no longer be used to excuse absences.
