In Memoriam

The TLC staff are all saddened by the loss of Christine Daniels, aka Mike Penner. The LA Times sportswriter greatly increased awareness of transgender issues after coming out a few years ago. We know that this news has a profound effect on many members of our community. We have lost way too many wonderful people to suicide. If you are experiencing depression, or are in crisis, please call the Trevor Project at 866-4-U-TREVOR (866-488-7386) to talk to a trained counselor.

Don't Forget to Put TLC on Your List!
A gift to TLC is a gift to transgender rights.

Help ENDA NOW!
Don't forget to call the Capitol Switchboard at (202)-224-3121
We need your help to pass ENDA!
ENDA Update

While the mark-up of the Employment Non Discrimination Act (ENDA) by the House Committee on Education and Labor was postponed, things are still moving. TLC is working closely with other LGBT organizations to address committee staff questions about legal aspects of the bill. While we do this work, it's important that representatives continue to hear from people in their districts about the need for federal employment protections for transgender people. You all have been great at getting the word out there. Don't stop now!

Call the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121 and ask to speak to your Representative.  When you are connected with your Representative's office, you can use this message:

"My name is _____ and I am a proud resident of (your city, state). I am calling in support of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (H.R. 3017) to protect lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people from job discrimination. Please act now to pass ENDA to protect the basic rights of your constituents. Thank you."

Thanks For Attending TLC's 7th Anniversary Party!

Big thanks to everyone who made TLC's 7th Anniversary event a tremendous success! The party was a blast, and it was a great fundraiser for TLC's work. We were thrilled to present Cecilia Chung and Jamison Green with our Vanguard Award, and to honor our community partners and allies. We are particularly grateful to Chaz Bono and Margaret Cho for their inspiration and entertainment. It was great to see all the members of the TLC family having a good time for a good cause. See you all next year!
