A Lifestyle of Hope

Quotes Of the Month

"Hope is like a road in the country; there was never a road, but when many people walk on it, the road comes into existence." ~Lin Yutang

"When you say a situation or a person is hopeless, you're slamming the door in the face of God."  ~Charles L. Allen

Prayer for
The Month

"Star-Child,
earth-Child,
go between of God,

 love Child,
Christ Child,
heaven's lightning rod,
This year, this year,
let the day arrive
when Christmas comes for everyone, everyone alive!"

Greetings!

During the Advent season we focus on a spirit of hope as we anticipate the arrival of the Christ in fresh, new ways. When hope becomes the center-piece of faith life, the result may be a deeper connection to God and community. So... this month's theme is 'A Lifestyle of Hope.'

Enjoy!

Hope

Hope is not just a perspective one has in a particular situation. It is more than an optimistic mindset or the ability to see the positive in a bad situation.  Christian hope is a lifestyle that proclaims: "Even I can make a difference in the world!" It is grounded in the belief that love is more powerful than hate and that ultimately good trumps evil. Hope is an incredible motivator as it suggests that when we are in synch with the Spirit of Life, we are active participants who make the presence of the Holy real in everyday situations.

Advent is the season of hope. It is grounded in stories of surprise and pregnancy and curiosity about the future. Immersing ourselves in the themes of the season can be life changing.

  • How can you nurture a greater sense of hope in your heart?
  • What is your greatest hope for your future?
  • How can you be an agent of hope for others?
