Quote Of the Month |
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." ~Hebrews 11:1 |
| An Easter Proclamation | |
"You can't keep out the light. That's the Easter promise. Whether it comes as a brutalized family who refuses to hate, or as a struggling man who finds a reason to go on, or as an ordinary woman who refuses to fear - whatever face it wears, you can't keep it out. The light, the risen Christ, comes-to touch, to share, to fill our lives. In the darkness of a Good Friday world, the empty tomb whispers its promise: "You can't keep out the light." ~John R. Pritchard, Jr. |

Greetings!
This week we journey together to the foot of the cross where we will immerse ourselves in the sorrow and horror of betrayal and injustice and violence. And yet... it is our faith that urges us forward. With hopeful yearning we anticipate the celebration of new life that will surely emerge in powerful ways.
Blessings and Peace to you as you navigate this holy week with prayerful attentiveness to God's presence.

Holy Week | |
The Holy Week story is the foundational narrative of the Christian faith. It reminds us that there are times when evil seems to prevail. There are times when we inflict suffering and commit dastardly betrayal. And, there will be times when we are the victims of violence and suffering. There are times when we cry out in agony and despair. There are times when we feel as if we are at a dead end - as if we are encased in impenetrable rock. It all seems to be over. The unbearable - the unbelievable has happened.
As we enter into this tragic story, we are horrified. We live into the fullness of the narrative, because, in some way, it tells our story too. We are troubled and anxious, frightened and in oh so much pain. We are broken, and want to know how the story might end.
And then...finally...finally... after the crying and the deafening silence... Divine power shakes the stone cold ground, and crashes through the rock. Holiness emerges out of the darkness into the glory of the first morning light. The final word is proclaimed: Resurrection! Goodness and Love are victorious. New pathways are opened. Creative energy can no longer be suppressed.
And when we finally tell the whole story we will proclaim: Christ is Risen! Christ is Risen Indeed!
How will living into the Holy Week narrative change your life this year? |
| The Voice of God | |
As we journey toward the cross this week, how might your life be different if you allow the voice of the Spirit of God to be that sound to which you are most attentive? What would it be like if that voice was not just a whisper that touches the soft, quiet, religious parts of your life; but more like a diapason that reverberates in the midst of all of the struggles and the pain and the crying and the secrets and the sadness and the shame? What if you truly listened?
So much competes for our attention. So much purports to be wisdom to guide our way. So much claims to bring about goodness and wholeness and peace. But, how might life be different if we could sort through the noise - discern the sound of the Holy - and let the Divine tune reverberate through all aspects of our personal life and work. What might that be like?
How can you better tune your ear to hear the voice of God? |
