From Where You Are...To Where You Want to Be

Quote Of the Month

"You'll seldom experience regret for anything you have done. It is what you haven't done that will torment you. The message therefore is clear. Do it! Develop an appreciation for the present moment. Seize every second of your life and savor it. Value your present moments. Using them up in any self defeating way means you've lost them forever."               ~Wayne Dyer

Prayer of the Month
"May all beings have happiness and the causes of happiness; May all be free from sorrow, and the causes of sorrow; May all never be separated from the sacred happiness which is sorrowless; and may all live in equanimity, without too much attachment and too much aversion, and live believing in the equality of all that lives."
  ~Buddhist Prayer

Greetings!

March is a time of newness...the snow melts and the ground thaws; a colorful landscape begins to re-emerge. Creation's message of hope surrounds us in the spring season. That makes this a great month to wake up and pay attention to the everyday richness of life. So, in this issue we will ponder the theme of 'savoring'. Also, be sure to check out the information below about an upcoming workshop for women on 'Resilience'.

Enjoy!

Savoring
'Savoring' is an emotional and spiritual discipline that means 'to appreciate fully'. Our tendency is to focus on the big or dramatic events in life, while ignoring the small and simple things.  Living into the act of savoring means paying attention to even the seemingly insignificant moments in life and acknowledging the goodness they bring. The goal of savoring is to heighten our awareness of the myriad of positive things that are always surrounding us.

Appreciating that first morning cup of coffee can be as important as celebrating the birthday of a loved one. Rejoicing in a stranger's kindness as she lets you pull your car out in front of hers in the parking lot can be as meaningful as lingering before the sight of the first daffodils blooming in the yard. Relishing your spouse's routine morning kiss, can be as powerful as delighting in an evening of dinner and dancing with friends. Through the intentional discipline of savoring we become sensitive and aware of the blessings all around us and are empowered to more fully embrace a life grounded in gratitude. Try it out today! You will be amazed at how many wonderful things appear right before your eyes!

How can you be more mindful of the small and simple things in your life?

How might savoring influence your perspective and mood?
