PRAYER
|
Dear Goddesses and WSMs,
This week we pray for LIGHT.
Let there be light to illuminate our way. Let the light shine from our hearts into the World. May we be light hearted and LAUGH.
Let there be peace with ME and WE and let US all BE.
Thank you for BEing & LAUGHing PEACE in our World.
Wishing you, Peace & Love, Just Because, Goddess Diana & WSM Noah |

LAUGHter & MUSIC
|
|
A very basic human need is that of having our own unique voice heard.
Many times as we grow up we get the idea that it has to be a certain way. For instance, many people claim to "not be able to sing." Rarely is this true, at least from a physiological standpoint. Yet, we often place limits on expressing ourselves vocally. We judge ourselves, while afraid of the censure and judgment of others.
By contrast, the way each one of us LAUGHs is absolutely spontaneous and unplanned, free of censure, most of the time, either by ourselves or others. We just LAUGH, allowing it to spill out of our delighted bellies and fill our bodies with joyful mirth.
AND, just as we are able to recognize others from a distance by their distinctive walk (envision Charlie Chaplin's "Little Tramp"), and a loved-one's voice by its timber and inflections (two un-mistakable singers like Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong come to mind), each human being somehow grows into a one-of-a-kind LAUGH that is uniquely theirs, a vocal footprint, if you will. At least to MY ear, no two human beings LAUGH alike.
ONE of the greatest gifts of LAUGHter is that is comes unbidden. Although we may seek out movies or books or other people that make us laugh, the LAUGHter itself comes when we least expect it, often unpredictably. And we can no more control HOW we laugh than WHEN we LAUGH...so there is no self-censuring head process to interrupt this delightful and most human vocal expression.
Finally, it is because through LAUGHter that we share our amusement with the world around us, vocalizing our light-hearted song of joy in concert together, that I have come to conceive of LAUGHTER as SPONTANEOUS HUMAN MUSIC. It is, like music, a universal language that needs no words, only a heart full of delight.
This fabulous column was written by Christina Farnsworth, Laughter Yogini (she keeps our Tuesday morning Circles running when we are out of town) and Director of Joy in Motion, Inc., Music Therapy through movement and LAUGHter.
