These are the new QR codes that are becoming more and more popular across the UK. Tips of the week - put one on your business card, all people have to do is scan it (through a QR code scanner on their phone), and they get redirected to your website straight away!

Joke of the Week
Two accountants are in a bank, when armed robbers burst in. While several of the robbers take the money from the tellers, others line the customers, including the accountants, up against a wall, and proceed to take their wallets, watches, etc.
While this is going on accountant number one jams something in accountant number two's hand. Without looking down, accountant number two whispers, "What is this?" to which accountant number one replies, "it's that £50 I owe you."

The VAT Annual Accounting Scheme - Could it benefit your business?
With the VAT Annual Accounting Scheme, instead of completing a VAT return each quarter, you simply complete just one VAT return per year.
There are some advantages to this scheme, mainly:
- You only have to file one VAT return a year, for which you have 2 months to complete & file it.
- You can choose the VAT return year that you want.
- Regular monthly payments help your cashflow.
Usually, it is necessary to make nine equal interim VAT payments, by direct debit, at monthly intervals during the year.
The amount of the interim payments are based on an estimate of your total VAT liability. This is worked out based on your previous 12 months net payment of VAT.

National Minimum Wage Rates Increase In October
The new national minimum wage rates will be coming into effect in October 2011. If you are of compulsory school age, as well as having some different employment rights, you are not entitled to National Minimum Wage. (Investments) Understanding Premium Bonds
Did you know that if you invest in a premium bond, you get your winnings completely tax-free?
Well you do, but there is a limit of £30,000. If you invest the full amount, you are likely (but not guaranteed!) to get a reasonable rate of return because of the amount of bonds you hold. Prizes are based on a rate of return of 1.5% (April 2010).
Premium Bonds regularly pay out prizes, and of course, these are all tax free.
Perhaps more importantly though, there is also the opportunity to hit the jackpot with the big prize standing at £1 million.
