Just to mix things up a bit, instead of a logic or maths-based BrainTeaser, can you guess who this is? Note: Try 'Googleing' this one!
Hint: He was one of two stars in a 1990-2000's cult TV series.

Entrepreneur's Relief
Before the rate of Capital Gains Tax (CGT) was raised from 5% or 10% to 18% or 28%, small businesses were promised some sort of concession would be announced. We were expecting a form of retirement relief to be announced, but a brand new "Entrepreneur's Relief" was introduced instead. Entrepreneur's relief is available to most, including individuals, trustees (in some circumstances), but not to limited companies. You can claim Entrepreneur's Relief when you sell all of your business, or even shares in your own company after 5th April 2008. The capital gain, when entrepreneur's relief is applied, is taxed at an effective rate of 10%, instead of 18% or even 28%. There are, however, some stiff limitations to entrepreneur's relief: Click here to read the rest of this article.

Client Spotlight - ENM Solutions Ltd
Shirley Tynan and Linda Warburton together are ENM Solutions Ltd. A book and magazine publishing company, pertaining to Equestrianism and the Rural way of life. We're based just outside Henfield in West Sussex. ENM Solutions Ltd has been established for just over four years, since February 2007. Shirley has a full publishing background, having been in the industry for over 28 years. Linda comes from a catering background, and more recently into advertising sales and editorial over the last 11 years.
Our main competitors in the area of equestrian magazines is 'Pegasus' who mainly concentrate on East Sussex and Kent. Our magazine is special as we run a very small tight ship and believe very strongly in Customer Service - we form relationships with our advertisers, understand their expectations and help them in any way we can. Our main business is publishing free magazines, two of which are for the equestrian trade and one for the Rural community of Sussex. The magazines are: NagMag, DriveTime and Rural Sussex. Not only do these magazines allow equestrian and rural businesses to promote their offers, and their names to a local readership, they also offer opportunities to health practitioners, dentists, school and other services. People who ride lead normal lives too, and they also are more susceptible to injury so more often require the help of chiropractitioners, dentists and Solicitors. Keepers have helped us with financial advice to keep ENM Solutions Ltd on track and have been very informative and helpful to promote ENM Solutions Ltd through social networking and the internet. One of our clients said: Thanks so much for the interview in the mag - just spotted it on line! Looks amazing! Thanks and kind regards. Ashley - 16/5 re Gersemi - A Swedish equestrian label. We are running a special offer, specifically for this Client Spotlight - we would like to offer readers of this a month's free advertising on our website! All you have to do is place an ad for 3 months, and you get the 4th free! Visit www.nagmagonline.com or call 01273 491922 for more details. According to Media Week, Julian Lloyd-Evans - managing director of advertising at Dennis - accused established magazine publishers of being "too scared to take risks" in producing video. We at ENM Solutions consider video content to be the way forward and should be part of day-to-day publishing. Within the next few months we will have interviews with equestrian celebrities and a range of video formats on behalf of advertising clients on www.nagmagonline.com If you would like any more information please visit www.nagmagonline.com or email on info@enmsolutions.co.uk or telephone on 01273 491922 |

How To Reduce Your Taxable Liability - Deductible Business Expenses
Expenses is a very large area of tax, and one of the most challenging as well, which is why we've written this blog post; to try and give you an idea of some of the expenses that you can claim.
An expense is allowable as long as it was reasonably incurred, and exclusively incurred for the purpose of the business, or it was spent for the purpose of the business. It also has to be either relevant to the assessment period, or spent in the assessment period. To be allowable, it must not be excluded by regulations (see below).
The decision maker should always consider each item of expense separately.
Regulations
The regulation specifically say that some expenses are not to be allowed in the calculation of normal weekly earnings. These are:
a) Capital expenditure
b) Repayments of capital on loans taken out for business purposes
c) Depreciation of capital assets

Social Media Tips - The Nine Bees
An Internet marketing blog just would not be complete without some regular social media tips for business owners and marketers to keep up to date with best practise. So here we go with the 9 bees of social media: -
Bee Interesting: some people see social media as a chore, rather than an opportunity to impress and attract potential new clients, so their interactions are mundane, boring, mechanical or just plain silly. Don't force yourself to tweet under pain of death, say something only when you have something interesting to say.
-
Bee Impressive: nobody really wants to hear about how great you, your products or your website is (as much as that hurts!) The way to engage people on social media is to give away a little of your knowledge and experience to help others. You will soon get a reputation in the social-mediasphere as a thought leader and general good egg. This will attract people to your website.
-
Bee Generous: when people connect to you on LinkedIn, or follow you on Twitter don't just ignore them - find out what you can do to nurture them. What can you give away to them? What will they like?
-
Bee Creative: It's not just what you say, but also how you say it. Can you deliver your knowledge and experience to them in an unusual way to make you stand out from the crowd?
