Client Spotlight - Plum Marketing

Having worked in corporate environments for well over 10 years, the owners of Plum have recently braved the outside world to set up their own business.

Plum understands how hard hit businesses have been as a result of the recession and saw a requirement for retained part-time support that helps businesses create a happy and motivated work-force, save money and increase their external visibility.

3 Tax Tips For Small Businesses in 2011

In this article, we're going to look at 3 really simple, yet hugely effective ways that you can either reduce your taxable liability, or get some money back from HMRC!

Are you self-employed?

Even though the basic rate of income tax is the same as the small profits rate of corporation tax (20% as of April 2011), it can still be hugely beneficial to incorporate and extract funds by way of dividends.

The reason for this is that dividends do not attract National Insurance Contributions, and by incorporating, you will save Class 4 National Insurance Contributions.

By turning your Sole Trader business into a Limited Company, you could reduce the amount of tax you pay by 30%!

Bonus Tip: If you also involve your spouse or partner in the company, your tax bill could be reduced by an additional 25%!

Accountants in Brighton - Why Choose Keepers?

There are many Accountants in Brighton, each with their own unique selling point. The point of this post is to show you what some of the Accountants do, and how Keepers go that step further.

proactive picture

Some of the Accountants in Sussex will offer you two services for the price of one; the compliance work, such as your Company Accounts, VAT Returns, Self Assessment Tax Returns, and the 'Proactive Service', in which they will advise you on different areas you can improve upon, such as showing you where you could save tax, or where you can invest to grow your business, AKA business development.

Although this all sounds great, the vast majority of the time, you are sacrificing the quality of one service for the other. For example, if the main reason you wanted an Accountant was for the compliance work, then their proactive advice, which could save or make you thousands, is sub-par. And vice-versa.

Which is where Keepers Accountancy comes in; we are the one group of Accountants in Brighton who actually 100% guarantee exceptional levels of both compliance work and proactive advice.

Click here to have a look at our other 7 100%, set in stone guarantees.

We can do this because we have actually have a whole office dedicated specifically to the proactive side of our services!
