Quote Of The Week
| You don't hear things that are bad about your company unless you ask. It
is easy to hear good tidings, but you have to scratch to get the bad
news.

Three travellers are sitting
around a fire, and are about to eat a meal. One of them has five small loaves
of bread, the second has three small loaves of bread.
The third has no food,
but has eight coins. He offers to pay for some bread.
They agree to share the
eight loaves equally among the three travellers, and the third traveller will
pay eight coins for his share of the eight loaves.
All loaves were the same
size. The second traveller (who had three loaves) suggests that he be paid
three coins, and that the first traveller be paid five coins. The first traveller
says that he should get more than five coins. Is he right?
How should the money
be divided up?

Structuring your Business In The Most Tax-Efficient Way
It is all too common for Small to Medium Business owners to get
swallowed up by their own company; you have all heard the term 'working
in the business, not on the business', and I can certainly relate to
that.
So who gets time to look at the nitty-gritty stuff? Especially things
like company structure; there are many ways to ensure that your company
is running in the most tax-efficient way. For example, if you are a
Sole Trader, how do you know that you wouldn't pay less tax if you
became a limited company, or even brought in a partner, child/children,
or a spouse?
The Revenue, as you know, have very strict guidelines we all have to
adhere to; the question is, are you missing a trick? The rules are there
to be followed of course, however, you can use them to your advantage.
In most circumstances, a limited company owner will pay on average
10% less tax than a sole trader.
