Top Tip
Claim your small business rate relief.
Businesses have to pay their rates - like council tax - to their local
authority. However, if your premises have a rateable value of £15,000 (£21,500 in
London) or less, then you can claim a discount. Contact your local council
for more information.

Greetings!
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) announced yesterday that the English Economy grew by 0.1%, thus ending the longest recession since The Great Depression back in the 1930's. However, these statistics are not necessarily reliable; read more here.
It is Keepers' opinion that even during the 'recession', and
especially now, that with the right business model and business partners, not
to mention hard work and determination, all small businesses can achieve great
things. If you would like more information on how to get there, please have a
good look around our website; there is a gold mine of wisdom tucked away in
there!
Self Assessment Reminder (Again!)As you all know, the deadline for filing your Self-Assessment Returns is looming, we've only got 5 days now! If you haven't already filed these, you really need to get your skates on to avoid a £100 fine! Remember: You also need to pay the tax owed by the 31st.You may also have noticed that we are doing the Client Spotlight this week; we thought we'd have a bit of fun! If you are a Client and you are interested in showcasing yourself and your business in our Spotlight, please click here.

Tax Advice
Avoiding the Corporation Tax instalment trap Corporation
Tax is payable nine months after your company's accounting period
ends... but not always. If profits tip even a few pounds over the limit
set by the Taxman, he could be after your money a year sooner. How can
you avoid this happening? Read Article ...
Is your company acting as a VAT agent or principal? In
a recent case the court considered whether a company that contracted
out some of its work should charge VAT on those services as if they had
provided them itself. The issue could have widespread consequences.
What's the full story? Read Article ...
Is there now an advantage to fuel benefit? For
some years the consensus among tax advisors has been that it doesn't
pay for those with company cars to also have their fuel for private
motoring paid for by the business. But with fuel prices on the up once

10 e-Marketing Tips
Tip #1 Legal
Always make sure you are 'legal' when it comes to the email
marketing laws. If you are sending to someone outside your country,
their countries laws apply as well
Tip #2 Targeted Prospects
Don't send your email to just anyone. Make sure they are people that
you have met and got their email addresses, or they have signed up
online. There is nothing worse than renting a list; this is called
spamming.
Tip #3 Measure your success
Same as above, but a longer method. This is more accurate, but takes more time.
Ask for feedback as well. No one will tell you better what to do than the recipient.
Tip #4 Small Sample Trial
Separate your list into 4 or 5 different ones. Then, send out a
Newsletter but change certain things, such as layout, subject line,
etc. Monitor the results, and use the one which was most successful!
