Caledon Hotel Market Study

Hotel RoomThe Town of Caledon recently contracted an independent consulting firm to complete a comprehensive study on the feasibility of constructing and operating a hotel facility in Caledon.
  
This study confirms a significant opportunity to establish a branded, focused-service hotel to meet current (and growing) business and leisure overnight accommodation needs.

The complete 62 page study, which includes an extensive analysis of the accommodations market for Caledon and surrounding areas and an assessment of five (5) potential hotel sites, can be purchased at a cost of $100 + HST.

Notice of Municipal Development Charge Increase

Construction SiteAs per Section 15 - Phasing In of the Town of Caledon's Development Charge By-law 2009-090, please be advised that as of July 8, 2011 the Town's portion of ALL non-residential development will be charged at a rate of $46.13 per square metre ($4.29 per square foot) of total floor area.

Caledon Farmers' Market Contest

Caledon Farmers' Market LogoThe Caledon Farmers' Market needs your help...

It is inviting suggestions to come up with a name for its newsletter and has created a contest where each entrant has the opportunity to suggest up to three (3) name suggestions.

To "sweeten the pot" (so to speak) the person who submits the winning suggestion will receive 50 "Market Bucks" which can be used to purchase products while visiting the Market during the 2011 season.

This contest closes on Monday, March 21, 2011.

The winning entry will be chosen by the Caledon Farmers' Market Advisory Committee and notified via e-mail.

WinterFeast Returns (February 15 - March 6, 2011)

The 6th annual WinterFeast: A Culinary Experience in the Hills of Headwaters will take place from February 15 to March 6, 2011.  
 
WinterFeast LogoThis year's event will feature 12 of the finer dining establishments located throughout the Hills of Headwaters region; including the following six restaurants located in Caledon:

All menus are "prix fixe", include at least three courses, and are offered at the following rates: Lunch $15 or $20, Dinner $25 or $35.


WinterFeast is a great way to experience high-quality local culinary talent at a significantly reduced price. The menus demonstrate how locally-grown and produced foods can be used to create delectable gourmet cuisine.
 
There is also an opportunity to win a gourmet dining experience at one of the WinterFeast restaurants.

A Land Use Planning Guide for Businesses
Land Use Planning GuideIn a letter dated January 18, 2011, Rick Bartolucci, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, announced that the Province has launched a new business tool called: A Land Use Planning Guide for Businesses.
  
As part of Ontario's Open for Business initiative, the purpose of this guide is to help businesses plan and develop land use in an effective and efficient manner.
  
This guide has been developed for businesses of all types and sizes that may need approval on a matter related to land use planning and development. It is designed to be used by businesses as a tool for growing and expanding.

"Power Savings Blitz" for Small Commercial Businesses
Power Savings BlitzThe Power Savings Blitz program is designed to retrofit small commercial businesses across the province of Ontario.
  
The program provides turn-key lighting and water heating retrofits for small commercial businesses in the office or non-food sub-sectors whose electricity usage is less than 50kW of demand.
  
Funding up to $1,000 is provided for the retrofits. 
  
To be eligible, program participants must be small commercial businesses in the office or non-food sub-sectors located in the targeted service area of a participating local electricity distribution company (LDC) and have an average monthly electricity demand of 50kW or less. 
  
This includes a wide range of businesses including, but not limited to: professional dry cleaners, medical offices, beauty salons, and other small retailers.

Bolton Community Improvement Plan (CIP)

Thinking of renovating the façade of your building or improving the landscaping at your property? Perhaps you are contemplating a complete redevelopment of your site?

 

If you are an industrial or commercial landowner in the community of Bolton you may be eligible for financial incentive grants from the Town of Caledon.

 

In April 2009, after months of research and public consultation, Town of Caledon Council adopted the Bolton Community Improvement Plan (CIP), and companion Urban Design Guidelines, for the Bolton Community Improvement Project Area.

 

There are eight (8) financial incentive grant programs in the Bolton CIP, including:

  • tax increment equivalent grants 
  • development charge grants 
  • application and permit fee grants 
  • building and façade improvement grants 
  • energy retrofit grants
  • landscape improvement grants
  • mixed use construction/conversion grants
  • environmental study grants
