Tip of the Month
September is here.  Leaves are turning, ferns are brown, kids are back to school.  Temperature is getting cooler and time to get knitting.  Drop by the shop and see the many new items we have stocked for fall.  Liz, Claire and Linda
What's New 
  • Schoppel Wolle Pie Sock Yarn, from the Crazy Zauberball family, is dyed by hand 2 strands of yarn at a time in order to get identical pairs of socks.  Available in five beautiful colors.
  • Mushishi from Plymouth.  Luscious multi-colored worsted weight yarn that is 95% wool and 5% silk.
  • Drifting Gardens a multi-colored worsted weight mohair yarn from Plymouth 72% mohair, 16%wool and 12% polyester. 
  • Dreamin by Plymouth.  One skein has 540 yards and an adorable baby sweater pattern - worsted weight -  59% acrylic and 41% nylon.
  • We now have Encore Chunky Tweed in 4 beautiful colors, and have added Black tweed in worsted weight.
  • We have added to our Boku inventory with 5 more colors.
  • Gold Rush accessory yarn is 20% metallised polyester and 80% rayon.  It is available in gold, silver, and black with silver. Worsted weight, this yarn will add shine to your winter knitting.
  • "Go Team Knitting Kits" from Angel's Kiss Alpaca Yarn.  Hand dyed alpaca/merino yarn in team colors for Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings, and UW Badgers.  There are 3 different kits, 2 hat pattern kits and 1 scarf pattern kit. This yarn is from a new mill in southwestern Wisconsin, Heavenly Fibers.
  • Old Fashion Ragg Wool Stocking Kits from Annie's Woolens.  These 2 new kits are available in Grey Ragg/Black toe and Black Ragg.
  • Fiber Dreams No Frills 36" Blocking Wires for lace.
  • We have enhanced our Lamb's Pride inventory with varjigated and solids in worested weight.  Also 3 new colors in bulky, cranberry swirl, rosy velvet, royal purple flutter.
  • New Tinkerbell colors and new varigated Comfort DK.
New Pattern Books from Cabin Fever:
  • "Baby V"  No sew knitting Top Down V Neck cardigans for Preemie to 18 months.  Also has bootie and hat patterns.
  • "Teens and Tweens"  Sweaters and accessories for 8-18 year olds.

  • "Top Down for Toddlers"  designs for ages 1-6.  Collection of projects for every skill level.
Classes and WorkshopsInventorySale
Pre-registration is required for all classes. All supplies are available at the shop. Students receive 10% off supplies. 
Double-ended Crohook Prayer Shawl - A beautiful and interesting method of crocheting that produces a two-sided, two-color look. Tuesday, September 7,
from 10-noon. Teacher is Carol Ruplinger, fee is $15 plus materials.
Material: 4 skeins of Encore worsted (2 each of 2 colors) and a J or K long crohook.
Christmas vest - Tuesday, Sept 28th, 9:30 - 11:30.  Teacher is Liz.  Class fee $10.00 plus materials.  This is a cute novelty vest for the Holiday season.  Stop by and see a sample in the shop.  Class will meet to get a good start on the project. Students will complete during following few weeks, coming into the shop for help as needed.  
Felted Clog Slippers - Tuesday, Sept 28th, 1-3. These have been by far the most popular felting project for years. They are fun to make and so comfy to wear. Class fee is $10 plus materials. Stop by and see a sample in the shop.  Class will meet to get a good start on the project. Students will complete during following few weeks, coming into the shop for help as needed.  
Red Oak Designs presents North Woods Afghan - Next two sessions are Monday, Sept 20 and Oct 18th from 9-11.
Headband Class - Headbands are quick and useful items to added to your Christmas knitting. In this class we will learn several methods for knitting headbands and how to size them. Tuesday, Oct 12th, from 1-3. Class fee $10.00 plus materials.
Upcoming Classes for Oct and Nov are Toe-up Socks, Two socks-Top Down, and Putting It Together. If you are interested contact the shop to suggest a date and time.

WI Sheep and Wool Festival Sept 10-12 at the Jefferson County Fair Grounds.
Driftless Area Fibre Arts Faire in Mineral Point, WI. Dates are 9/24-9/26 - workshops, vendors, sheep shearing, dog trials and much more.
Having a Ball with Fashion, the 32nd Annual Style Show and Luncheon presented by the St Germain Women's Service Club on Tuesday, September 21st. This is a wonderful event, If you are going to be up here and would like to attend, let us know.
Tip of the Month
When casting on or starting new yarn, always leave tails at least 5-6" long. You need at least that much to thread a darning needle and weave in the tail so that it will not work its way out later.
