MISSION MONDAY

Many families in our community utilize the food pantry at the Good Neighbor Center for food and clothes. To help, the Y is hosting Mission Mondays to benefit the Good Neighbor Center. On Mission Mondays, you are asked to bring in non-perishable food items. The Y will deliver the food to the Good Neighbor Center for their food pantry.

Please join us on the 3rd Monday of every month by dropping off your non-perishable goods to donate to the Good Neighbor Center. Our goal this month is 150 lbs.

SENIOR ANGEL TREE

Everyone needs an angel. This holiday season The Greater West Point Family YMCA and West Point Riverside Convalescent Center are working together to ensure each resident has some Christmas cheer.

The Senior Angel Tree aims to assist seniors at the Riverside Convalescent Care Center who are in need of personal care items that helps ensure their health and safety.

Candy Cane ornaments, decorated by YMCA Child Watch children and staff, hang on the tree. Each ornament indicates whether the stocking is meant for a male or female patient, and includes a list of the items needed. There are 60 candy canes/stockings, representing 60 seniors who are in need of assistance.

In fairness to each senior please follow the following suggestions when picking items out for your stocking: no large jars or bottles of perfume, lotion, etc., as it is difficult for some seniors at the center to handle them. Please purchase sizes of items that will fit into the stocking; if something doesn't fit into the stocking, we, unfortunately, can't include it in the gift.

Angels may adopt their senior at The Greater West Point Family YMCA, located at 3135 King William Ave, West Point between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Monday through Fridays or 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. Angels must return items for their seniors no later than Dec. 19th, 2011.

Individuals wishing to contribute to the 2011 Senior Angel Tree may instead make monetary donations to The Greater West Point Family YMCA.
