The Art of Explanation

Whether you are communicating facts, proposing an action or asking for resources, how you package your message has a significant impact. Structuring and presenting information in a focused and organized fashion will help the receiver understand your message. The next time you communicate, try these 2 approaches:

  • Get to the point. Determine the critical elements to be conveyed and focus on them intently by eliminating excessive details.
  • Chunk Information. Whether the communication medium is a physical conversation, an e-mail or a visual presentation, group information into distinct categories. This increases readability and makes the message more easily remembered and understood.
