Hello Buccaneer Families,
What a great opening day of Buccaneer football!
Our chapter went 5 - 4 for the day with two of our losses being very close battles. In addition to starting the second season of our youth football program,
our Ventura Buccanner's Chearleading Squad made their debut on
Saturday. They looked and sounded awesome and are such a wonderful addition
to our program. A special thanks to Karen Moore, Kalei Pele-Allen and all of the other volunteers that have worked so hard to make our cheer squad a success.

The use of the brand new Ventura College stadium also went very well and the feedback from visiting chapters has been extremely positive so far. The stadium really ties in with our colors and theme and it almost felt like the complex was designed just for us. Despite some previous concerns about not being able to use the snack bar facility, the Bucs snack bar did very well on Saturday. I just received a report from our snack bar director and with only 5
games played at home, we still managed to sell 90 hamburgers and 150
hot dogs!
Enjoy the rest of the newsletter and we look forward to seeing everyone on the practice field this week...

Member Testimonial I woke up to this awesome testimonial from the Allmen family and wanted to share it with everyone. What a great way to start a Monday! Great job Coach John Carr and Staff!!
-----------------------------------------
Yesterday, after his first football game as a Ventura
Buccaneer, my son told us that he is going to play football for the rest of his
life. He said that he will not retire
from football until his is 'old, like Brett Favre.' This is such a joy to hear from our son. This is particularly precious when we
remember that just three months ago, he told us that he had changed his mind,
and that it had been a mistake to choose football as his favorite sport.
He has loved football all of his young life. From the time that he could speak, he told us
that he wanted to play football. He
grudgingly played the other community sports, baseball, basketball and
soccer. But, he told us that, when he
was old enough, he wanted to play football and participate in football camps.
When he was six, we enrolled him in a local chapter of
the GCYFL. The coach held a Sunday
'pre-season conditioning camp' on May 31st.
After a two hour session, my son told me that he had made a big mistake,
and that he didn't want to play football any more. We encouraged him to try a few more
sessions. After the third week, he cried
and refused to attend any more sessions.
The Coach's approach and philosophy was not right for our son. He did not provide instruction, explanation
or any breaking down of the skills, but did provide loud screaming for
mistakes.
We researched the local chapters, spoke with Buccaneers
personnel and decided to make the switch.
We have had a most wonderful experience with the Buccaneers. The head
coach and assistant coaches are excellent, and my son has recovered his love of
football.
Your coaches are individuals of integrity and they
provide a model of discipline for the children. The structure and hard work
that they require of the players is rewarded on the field and provides a strong
sense of teamwork.
Thank you for providing such a quality football program
for our area youth. Thank you for making
such a positive difference in the life of our family.
Sincerely,
Keith and Lindi Allmen

The Buccaneer Cannon

Bill Howard's construction of our chapter's brand new air cannon was
incredible. The air cannon looks just like a real pirate cannon and
proved to be a huge hit with parents and children trying to catch
Buccaneer towels, shirts and other prizes as they were fired into the
crowd. We would like to thank On Duty Uniforms for donating free t-shirts. If your company has any promotional items that you would like us to share with our spectators, the new Buccaneer cannon is a great way to do it. To donate shirts, gift certificates, etc. to our program, please call (805) 659-4772 or email info@venturabuccaneers.com.

Halloween Games We have received several requests to reschedule all of the late games for October 31st. We are currently working on moving the 4:00, 6:00 and 8:00 PM games over to Ventura High School. We haven't received confirmation from the league yet, but the the time/venue changes are looking like a good possibility. We will update everyone when we receive additional information.
