Nothing puts off the onset of dementia so well as learning something new. Each time you try something new, you lay new connections between neurons and fend off neurological decline.
Now, you can pick up a skill, refresh your knowledge of any academic topic (my kids are entering high school and I'm refreshing my Algebra, Geometry and Trig), or just tackle something you meant to, but never did way back when. The learning is interactive and graphical and not at all dry. Khan Academy has something for every age group and all the learning is free.
Also Noted: If you're interested in programming or creating your own website try one of these site. All three are free and offer beginners and the middling a learning experience: 1. Team Tree House 2. Code Academy 3. Udacity.

Here are links for your device and the app available. You will still need to steer your phone to the appropriate market place and download it to your phone, except for your Blackberry people who can download directly from the link.

If you intend to throw it out, take a sledge hammer to that internal hard drive. Better yet, take the drive out and keep it, you just might need to recover something from it in the future.
