Come Join Us For California Pizza Kitchen Spirit NightTomorrow - Tues. Sept. 25
Shady Grove will be hosting our first Spirit Night at California Pizza Kitchen at Short Pump Town Center Tuesday, September 25. Any time during California Pizza Kitchen's open hours on September 25, Shady Grove will receive 20% of your dining purchases if you show your flyer while dining! Flyers will be coming home today or tomorrow so keep an eye out for them. Lost or forgotten your flyer? Click HERE to print our flyer now.
Upon arriving at Calfornia Pizza Kitchen, make sure you sign in on our clipboard with the hostess to enter your child into our Spirit Night contest. The class that has the most attendance will receive a FREE California Pizza Kitchen pizza party. If you forget to enter our contest while dining, just send in your receipt and we will add your child to the contest list. Please list your child's name and classroom on the receipt to be counted in the contest.
So come out, meet with new friends and old, all the while enjoying a great dinner that directly benefits your school. In order for us to benefit, you must bring in your flyer when dining.
Feel free to stay late on Tuesday night; school is closed the next day! We look forward to seeing you there and thank you for your support.

Fall Student Holidays and
Parent Conferences
By Dr. Regina Schwab
This is a reminder that the children have three school holidays this fall prior to Thanksgiving. They are as follows:
Wednesday, September 26
Monday, October 8
Tuesday, November 6
On October 8, teachers will conduct staff development activities, and on November 6, Shady Grove will serve as a polling place for the presidential elections. Also, thinking ahead to the end of first quarter, November parent conferences will be held on November 5 and November 7 from 2:45 PM to 5:45 PM by appointment. Look for more information from your child's teacher two weeks in advance of the conferences.

Shady Grove now has an amazing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) Lab in the recently renovated space next to the library. Ms. Lynn and Mrs. Arthur have helped to create a vibrant space for all students to use when working on various STEM related projects. There are iPads, a soon to be river tank ecosystem, and enough supplies to support many children's engineering projects. Plan on attending the October 18th PTA meeting where the STEM Lab will be the focus of a variety of fun, family activities.

Cultural Arts
The Cultural Arts Program is getting set to kick off with the first performance on October 10th. The Richmond Ballet will be coming to Shady Grove Elementary to perform for our 5th grade students. This will provide our students the opportunity to see the dancers in a manner they would not be able to experience attending an in-theatre show. Click HERE for more information.
Keep watching the PTA Blast for more Cultural Arts Programs coming in October.
