President's Message
by Sue Manley
Back-to-school at last! Thank you to all the Cardinal families who were able to stop by the cafeteria during Open House to support the PTA. We had a little over 200 families join us in the cafeteria that day and I am happy to say that during open house we were able to reach 50% PTA membership, halfway to our goal of 100%.
We also had a strong start to our check-writing fundraising campaign. Remember - if your child's class is the first to reach 100% participation, they will win an ice cream party and be eligible for an extra cultural arts program. If you missed Open House or have misplaced your form, you can print another one HERE.
What to look forward to on Back-to-School Night: This Thursday we will begin at 6:30 pm in the Multi-Purpose room with our first General PTA Meeting of the year. We will be sharing information about upcoming PTA plans as well as voting on the PTA's 2012-2013 budget, voting on 2012 PTA legislative issues and approving the audit report from last year.
Please plan to attend. Schedule will be as follows:
6:30-6:50 PTA Meeting
6:50-7:00 Introductory Slide Show
7:00-7:10 Principal Comments/
Dismissal to Classrooms
7:20-7:40 Session 1
7:50-8:10 Session 2
Also, check our newly updated PTA website where dates, forms, and other PTA information can be found. All our PTA volunteers have been hard at work, if you see a board or committee person, please thank them for their dedication to our school. I would like to personally thank our Programs committee chair, Sally Raderer, who worked to oversee the approval and installation of the new GaGa pit, and even stored the materials in her garage all summer.
If you are looking for a way to volunteer, please visit the website and read about the many opportunities the PTA has to get everyone involved. Morning Drop-Off and School Store are great opportunities for working parents - just 30 minutes as many mornings as you care to, and it is done by 7:50 a.m.
