President's Message

The backbone of our PTA are Volunteers. From the welcome center, room moms, cafeteria and picture-day volunteers to the PTA Board, this school banks thousands of volunteer hours from our parents. Thank-you for your time to help our children learn in a safe, nurturing school. Much of the plans for our school are decided by the PTA Board. These dedicated volunteers make plans and organize programs, cultural arts, after-school activities, spirit wear, yearbook and outdoor time for our children. If you or someone you know could help PTA do an even better job at this school, please consider it. The open positions on the board and the nomination form can be found on this link. The nomination forms are due by March 20.All who ordered the PTA-published "Shady Grove Stove" Cookbook, a fundraiser benefitting the PTA Technology Fund, should have received them Friday, or they will come home Monday in your child's backpack. We ordered extra copies for anyone who wishes to now purchase one. They are $15 or 2 for $29. Print an order form HERE.

Budget documents, information on the school-day staggering time schedule and a DRAFT 2012-2013 calendar are a few items that can be viewed there. One current action item is the proposed changes to the gifted education program. The Gifted Advisory Committee voted to recommend Proposal 2. Get Ready for the Rock-A-Thon
T-5 days and counting until the first annual Shady Grove Rock-A-Thon this Thursday, March 15! It's not too late to join us! Please print out the release and pledge forms and return them to your teacher ASAP. All forms must be returned no later than Tuesday, March 13th. Be on the lookout for another Blast this Tuesday with specific information concerning the Rock-A-Thon event. Remember, we will be giving prizes for Best Rock N' Roll Costume, Most Class Participation, 1st and 2nd place Most Pledge Money raised and more! Outdoor Garden
Come "Grow at the Grove" with us! We need you and you don't need a green thumb! Please join us at the Shady Grove playground on Monday, March 19th from 11:00-1:00 for a time of gardening, food and fun as we work together to spruce up the Shady Grove gardens for the Spring! You can also check out our new raised-bed vegetable garden that the Kindergarten is adopting and planting for the Spring. Thank you Mark Ziegler! The 2011-2012 SGES yearbook will be one you won't want to miss! The price increases to $30 after March 31st. Be sure to reserve one now...there are less than 80 books left! Box Tops
On behalf of the PTA, we want to thank all participating families for helping us reach beyond our goal of $1900!
A special congratulations goes out to Mrs. Marshall's class. Her class is our Spring Challenge winner for the most number of box tops collected. As our winner, Mrs. Marshall's classroom will receive an ice cream party sponsored by the PTA.
We ask you to please continue to send in Box Tops for our school to support our programming goals. Thanks!
