President's Message
from Kaje Stuckey
I was working in the cafeteria this week, class duty, and noted that the volume had increased since the last time I was in there. The excitement of the holidays is alive and loud in the classes at our school. Enjoy the last week of quiet at your houses as I am sure the excitement will build over the 2-week break. Some items I'd like to call your attention to:
The morning drop off has hit a critical point in which there are MANY mornings no one has signed up. Those already on the schedule, thank you for helping our children start their mornings off safely. This is a note for those of us who use it often, but don't help. The 25 minute volunteer time needed for this job will start your morning right. PLEASE e-mail Jennifer Huneycutt at huneycutts98@yahoo.com and tell her ADD ME TO THE LIST! If you want more information Jennifer can answer your questions.
The school directory has been distributed. Those who donated as Cardinal Donors this year received a copy as a benefit. Families who paid $3 also should have received a copy through backpacks. If you are a Cardinal Donor or paid for a directory and did not receive one, please e-mail me at mikeandkaje@verizon.net with your last name and a teacher/classroom for which you would like it sent home through backpacks.
If you would like to now order a directory, or order extra copies, we have them available. Think about buying an extra copy for in the car. Just submit $3 (cash or check to SGES PTA) in an envelope with your name AND a teacher class you'd like it sent home through backpacks. They will be available while supplies last.
Please take a look at the garden around the marquee. For the past three years, the Wyndham Garden Club has adopted that garden, providing seasonal color and maintenance. I'd like to especially call out super SGES grandparents Tom and Nancy Dawson who have two grandchildren at our school. They have organized the garden club and donated their time and talent. THANK YOU!
Thank you to all who came out on Tuesday for Barnes and Noble night. That night B&N said they did about $4,000 in sales and they donate 20% to SGES, what a great night full of SGES music and teachers, and stories, and community. Nights like Tuesday is what makes being involved with PTA so fun. As always parents, your continued support for the education of your children is appreciated. |
Spirit Wear
Attention Shady Grove Cardinal Parents!
There is still time to order spirit wear for your favorite cardinal! The due date for spirit wear orders has been extended to January 15th! To place your order, please send a completed order form along with your payment through your child's teacher.

Fundraising
We would like to send out a BIG thank you to all the families and teachers that came out last week for the 3rd annual Barnes & Noble spirit night - it was a huge success! We would also like to thank Mr. Brady, the Soundsations vocal ensemble, and the Syncopations percussion ensemble for their fabulous performances. Everyone had a great time! Remember, you can keep shopping in the store and online throughout the day on Sunday as long as you have your Book Fair Code 10594018 at checkout. Parents would you like to give Shady Grove a gift for Christmas? Well, you can! If you haven't already, please register your Martin's Bonus Card (School Code 03116) and/or your Kroger Plus Card (print bar code here) so Shady Grove can earn money and educational awards. It's that easy - just a swipe of your Bonus or Plus card at checkout and Shady Grove will receive credit! And don't forget, if you have a Target RED Card, all you need to do is enroll in their Target Take Charge of Education Program and designate Shady Grove as your school (School Code 103962), and we will earn 1% of all purchases. Thank you again for all your support.
Box Tops:
If you are interested in shopping online for your holiday purchases and helping us gain more box tops, here is how to proceed:
1. Become a member of Box Tops for Education by signing up your email onto the website: www.boxtops4education.com
2. Once logged in as a member, go to http://www.boxtops4education.com/earn/marketplace/ and click on the button "see all stores." Click on the store you want to make a purchase from and the box tops will automatically be sent back to our school once your online purchase and transaction goes through. It's that easy!
3. If you would like classroom credit for these purchases, please send in a copy of the receipt with your teacher's name and mention the number of box tops offered in the promotion (for example 2 box tops for every $10 spent).
