President's Message

Back-to-school is such a busy time that this year PTA made efforts to make our parents and teachers have an easier Open House experience by instituting a one-form for your PTA needs. If you missed Open House or have misplaced your form, you can print another one here. Feedback has been positive thus far. If you have any feedback to make Open House an easier process for you, the parent, please e-mail me.
Now on to Back-to-School Night. This Thursday we will begin at 6:30pm in the Multi-Purpose room with our first General PTA Meeting of the year. It is an excellent chance for you to hear about all the plans the PTA has made for our children. Please plan to attend. Schedule will be as follows:

Don't forget to order your spirit wear items by September 30th!! If you need an order form, you can download one from the PTA Website. Simply return the completed form to school through your child's teacher along with your check! Go Cardinals!

School Store Opening Soon
The Cardinal's Nest will be open for business beginning Wednesday, September 21. The Store will be open from 7:20am-7:40am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Reflections 2011-2012 - Entries due October 21st!
Calling all Cardinals! The PTA's Reflections Program is back and it's time to show off your creativity! Create your entry based on the theme "Diversity Means..." To participate, choose a category and get creative - there are six to choose from and you can enter more than one! * Film Production * Dance * *Music Composition * Photography * *Visual Arts * Literature * Submit your original work to your teacher by October 21st. Complete rules and forms are available on the SGES PTA Website. Share your talents and Have Fun! All participants will be recognized at program on November 17th.

Yearbook
Don't forget to reserve a 2011-2012 SGES yearbook for your child! If you order prior to October 1st, you will be entered into a drawing to receive yours for FREE! Two yearbooks will be awarded. Orders can be done on-line for $23 (with the option to personalize) or $25 by filling out this order form and turning it in to your teacher. Personalization cannot be done after January 30th. Price increases to $30 in the spring. E-mail Amy Foy with any questions.

Fundraising
Check Writing Campaign: If you haven't sent in your donations for the Check Writing Campaign, please do so as soon as possible. Remember, there will be a cultural arts program awarded to one class in each grade that has the highest number of Cardinal Donors and an ice cream party will be awarded to the class that reaches 100% participation first (no matter the amount given). The contest deadline is: Nov. 4th to win the cultural arts program or ice cream party. Papa Johns: Our first Papa John's pizza nights will be this Tue, Wed, and Thurs (13-15th). If ordering online, the code is SGES. If ordering by phone, please send in your receipt to school so we can get credit for your order. Martins: Parents, Martin's cards could not be registered for Shady Grove until Sept. 11th so you should be able to register now using code 03116. If you prefer, you can send the blue Martin's form in and we will register for you. Box Tops: The collection has started. Please send in your Box Tops now so we can start processing them to see who the first monthly class winner will be. |
Cardinal Fun Run
We're WILD about fitness! Join your friends for the Cardinal Fun Run Thursday, October 20 at Shady Grove Registration and warm-ups begin at 5:00pm. K-2 run starts at 5:30, with 3-5 run following. This 1-mile run/walk is open to all Shady Grove students. Parents are welcome to walk/run with their students. If you have questions, contact Julie Lang or Sally Raderer. |
Shady Grove Anniversary Cookbook
In celebration of our 20th Anniversary and to continue improving our technology at the school, PTA is publishing an Anniversary Cookbook. Want to know more- follow this link. We need recipes to publish. Please submit your favorite recipes online or drop this form in the PTA room. Deadline for submission is October 28. Name the Cookbook Contest: Email your original title for Shady Grove's cookbook that compliments the tagline: "Celebrating 20 Years of Cardinal Cuisine," and you could win $25 to Cheeburger Cheeburger.
