PTA Executive Committee Vote

Dear Shady Grove parents:

Please take a moment to open this link and vote for the executive committee for our PTA. You will see listed the names of new volunteers that were submitted by the Nominating Committee. Our bylaws indicate that each year, our membership votes for the open positions. Some positions are not open at this time as our bylaws indicate those serving on the board do so for two-year terms. Question 2 offers you the opportunity to submit any write-in candidates for board positions. Please indicate the position as well as the PTA-member name if you which to utilize this option.

PTA End of Year Picnic & Auction

Thursday, May 19th 5:30 - 7:30pm

The Silent Auction items are really starting to come in. Here is just a sample of the many donations our school has received. All the the money raised by this one-time auction will be used to update technology in our school. Thank you to everyone who has donated. Please mark your calendars for May 19 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm to come out to the annual end-of-year picnic and do a little shopping.

Field Day - Volunteers Needed

This Friday is Field Day at Shady Grove ES. Please sign up to help in your Cardinals' classroom by signing in to nListHelp and seeing what is needed.

Silver Diner Spirit Night

Monday, May 9th from 5 - 8 pm Take the night off and come join your fellow Shady Grove families for our last spirit night of the year. As a special treat... Several of our teachers will be there throughout the night seating, refilling drinks, and helping out around the restaurant - maybe you will see yours there! Whether dining in or ordering take out, a percentage of the proceeds will be donated to Shady Grove PTA. It promises to be a fun-filled night with lots of great food and chances to win some free dinners from Silver Diner, so bring your appetites and come help support SGES PTA.

DI Going to Globals

Team of SGES 3rd & 4th Graders

The Shady Grove SNAPAGONS won first place at the State Destination Imagination Tournament, and have been invited to compete at Global Finals in Knoxville later this month! This is an amazing opportunity for our cardinals to compete with teams from all over the world and to showcase Shady Grove teamwork, creativity and innovation. We need your help! Please help send Shady Grove to Globals! You can also see the SNAPAGONS' invention and presentation at the PTA Picnic.

Class Placement Process

For 2011 - 2012 School Year

Each year, teachers, counselors, and administrators work together closely during May and June to create the best possible classroom communities for the following year. We invite you to give input to the placement process if you believe that there is information about your child that might be overlooked. However, please observe the following guidelines:

Submit your information in writing directly to Dr. Schwab between April 14 and May 6.
Remember that parent information submitted in previous years will not be part of the process.
Work directly with administrators (who will make the final placement decisions) rather than with your child's current teacher.

FUNdraising Updates

Box Tops

Our 2nd deadline check just came in and we raised $890. This brings our total to $1,913 for the year! Please continue to collect box tops for next year.

Moe's & Five Guys Spirit Night

We had a great spirit night contest between the 2 restaurants in March. It was a close one.....but Five Guys ($232) beat out Moe's ($210) by a small margin. The $15 gift certificate was awarded to 3rd grader, Casey L. and his family. Thank you to all the Shady Grove families that came out to support the PTA...we raised $442 that night!

School Beautification Day

Saturday, May 7th from 1 - 4 pm

The Outdoor Garden is 100% Volunteer run and we need help weeding, pruning and mulching. Bring the family!!

SCA Pennies for Healthy Children

Thank You Cardinals!

The collection for Children's Hospital was very successful thanks to al the Cardinal families! The SCA delivered a check for $1,328.11 to Children's Hospital and it was very much appreciated by the staff! Thank you for your generosity Shady Grove Families, and thank you for your support of all the Shady Grove SCA service projects!
