Moms and Dads, we are planning for next year's PTA board.  The PTA is forming the nominating committee to recruit new volunteers for our PTA.  It is now time for YOU to let me know if you would like to serve on Shady Grove PTA.  It is a rewarding team of dedicated parents that understand that our award winning school needs our support to maintain and improve upon the learning environment for all our Cardinals.  


 There are a variety of positions that will be open; and many of those positions do not take lots of volunteer hours, but instead mindful planning at certain times of the school year.  A perfect example is our PTA-Reflections program which is a program that needs people to organize the entries and provide an evening to display them in November, than not much more time commitment until the following year.  The Membership Chair has to record our new PTA members which has many in the fall, and fewer during the other school quarters.  Other positions require an hour or two once or twice a month, like organizing this PTA eMail communication and website updates.  I will say that everyone that joins the board at Shady Grove PTA can tell you that is a rewarding experience and has met new and lifelong friends through volunteering.  

The Virginia Department of Education recently released the 2011 Virginia Index of Performance (VIP) awards.  Ten Henrico schools earned the highest award, the Governor's Award for Educational Excellence and SHADY GROVE was a selected school, as well as Deep Run High School, which we feed into was the ONLY Henrico County high school to receive this award.  A complete list of all the schools in Virginia recognized for this award can be found HERE.
