| Parent Education Night | | |
Join us this Thursday, January 20th for an evening of entertainment and education. We will be serving Papa John's Pizza in the cafeteria from 6:00 to 6:30 followed by a Jonathan Austin magic show for the kids while the parents attend a discussion led by Sarah Moore, SGES Counselor to help Shady Grove parents and students identify and prevent bullying in our community.
If you are able to join us for dinner, please e-mail to sgesredwings@gmail.com and let us know how many family members will be joining us. We want to make sure we have enough pizza for everyone. |
| Virginia Lotterey Super Teacher Awards | | The Virginia Lottery, the Virginia PTA, and The Supply Room Companies recognize that Virginia is brimming with outstanding teachers. These three organizations have partnered for the fourth year in a row to bring you the "Virginia Lottery Super Teacher Awards."
Through this program, The Virginia Lottery will recognize eight teachers across the Commonwealth as "Super Teachers." Each winning teacher will receive a $2,000 credit from the Supply Room Companies to outfit their classroom as well as a $2,000 prize from the Virginia Lottery. This year, ONE lucky Super Teacher will win a Royal Caribbean International® seven-day European cruise for two, including airfare.
To nominate your "Super Teacher," please go to the website. The nomination period launches January 3, 2011 and the submission deadline is February 14, 2011.

| Papa John's Pizza Nights | | |
Thank you to all the families that have been participating in our Papa John's Pizza Nights. They are NEW this year and have been a BIG HIT!!! Our November pizza night was HUGE...we earned $440. We also WON the Massanutten prize packages for our teachers and they were so excited to get the great news! Our December pizza nights earned $256 and this brings our Papa John's donations to $996 so far this school year. Our next nights are February 8-10th and remember to order online using our SGES promo code!

| R.E.B. Awards | | |
The R.E.B. Awards were developed by the Community Foundation to recognize public school teachers who have distinguished themselves by their inspiring classroom performance. Professional development grants ranging from $4,000 to $12,000 are awarded to winning candidates who can be nominated by students, parents, colleagues, and the community at large. Nomination forms are available at www.tcfrichmond.org and in our school's main office. The deadline for receipt of nominations is Thursday, February 24, 2011, at 5 PM. |
| Spirit Nights | | |
Thank you to all the families for coming out for our Barnes & Noble spirit night. It was a great success as we earned $482.79 for Shady Grove Elementary. Our next spirit night will be on Wednesday, January 26th at Cheeburger Cheeburger. You can come eat dinner with all your Shady Grove friends or pick dinner up on your way home. Either way you will be supporting Shady Grove!

| Box Tops | | |
Thank you for cutting out ALL of those Box Tops. Our first deadline was November 1st and we earned $1,080.20. Our next deadline is in February 23rd. A collection sheet w/ this deadline will be sent home this week. Due to December being so short, we will process all Box Tops turned in Dec. and Jan. as one month and will have a NEW class month winner at the end of January. Please continue to take the Box Tops Challenge!!!!

We thank all of the families that have participated already this year in the Check Writing Campaign. All receipts were sent out electronically unless we didn't have your email.
