Message from President Tom Taylor, October, 2011

As the year progresses I find myself yearning for my year to continue on and also looking forward to passing the baton to my replacement, Kathleen Haag. We have accomplished many of our goals this year but are always striving to increase benefits and our visual presence in the community. Our Board Members and Executive Director are always willing to answer your questions and listen to your ideas.
As we come to the close of September, we are well into Oktoberfest which began on September 17, 2011. A brief history of Oktoberfest let's us know that it traditionally begins the third Saturday in September and was started in Munich Germany on October 12, 1810. Originally Oktoberfest was a festival and horse race arranged by Prince Ludwig to celebrate his marriage to Therese and has remained a German tradition. In Germany during the three-week celebration they consume over a million pints of beer and hundreds of thousands of brats! So if you are feeling a little thirsty and hungry be sure to patronize Tizley's Europub and get your German fix while saying hello to owners Tammy and Rob. If German food is not you cup of tea, visit one of our many great restaurants that offer a wide variety of cuisine and beverages to satisfy your tastes. Many of our restaurants offer beers from our local breweries as well as a fine selection of wines.
We encourage all of you to join us for Luncheons, After-Hours and most definitely the Ribbon Cuttings for our new members.
Regards,
Tom Taylor, President |

Director's Message:
Fall is my favorite time of the year with the change in the colors of the foliage and the crisp morning air. This past week has been busy with three Ribbon Cuttings from Washington Tractor to Snap Fitness and last night at Thor's Needle and Hammer. The luncheon will be at Kiana this month and an After-Hours at Liberty Bay Auto. We have five (5) new members and several we are working with who are opening their business. Once they are settled we expect to have them join our Chamber.
Board Member Pam Whitt and I are planning some fun things for our upcoming luncheon. This is "Bring a Friend to Lunch" day and we are encouraging all of our members to bring someone new to the luncheon who might be interested in learning more about our great Chamber! Lunch for guests is only $10.00 this special time.
We are still accepting nominations for Greater Poulsbo Chamber of Commerce Board Positions through October 31st. Ballots will be available at the November election or mailed out to everyone later that week. Please nominate anyone you would like to see serve on our board (with their permission, of course).
Be sure you print out the Office Max coupon for office supplies at the bottom of this publication. Also mark your calendars for the HDPA's Halloween Costume and Trick-o'-Treat event on Front Street in Poulsbo Monday, October 31, 2011 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with the usual street closure. The merchants will be excited to see everyone!
Respectfully,
Adele Heinrich, Executive Director |

PSNBA Annual Meeting:
Date: October 17, 2011
Time: 4:45 p.m. General Board Meeting
Place: Norm Dicks Government Center
6th Floor, Mayor's Conference Room
345 Sixth Street, Bremerton, WA
PSNBA is an organization that is dedicated to ensuring that the Navy and Congress never forget that Kitsap County is where the Navy's past, present, and future were meant to be. Our organization thrives and is able to continue this proud 65 year tradition because of a dedicated group of volunteers that truly believe in the mission of PSNBA. With the start of the new fiscal year vastly approaching, we have begun the search for volunteers to fill the upcoming vacant seats on our board. So this is the time where we call for nominations and ask for dedicated volunteers to help support the mission of PSNBA. We are seeking individuals to fill the following board seats: Vice President of Public Relations, Vice President for Strategic Initiatives, Vice President for Base Membership Operations and Secretary.
If you would like to nominate or volunteer yourself we invite you to attend our Annual Board meeting or email your nominations to info@psnba.org. |
