Message from President Tom Taylor, July, 2011

Here we are coming into my favorite time of the year, when we get to celebrate our countries independence. It's a time when we can reflect on all the greatness we have achieved throughout the generations. The battles that have been fought and won by our American men and women who serve in our armed forces around the world. The freedoms we afford those nations which are less fortunate and unable to defend themselves. America is a great nation and we celebrate here in Poulsbo on the 3rd of July each year with a salute to our armed forces and followed up with a grand fireworks show. I hope that everyone can come out this year to celebrate with us downtown and enjoy the festivities. Experience booths with treasurers to purchase, plus foods with the delicious flavor of Poulsbo at any one of our restaurants and enjoy your favorite beverage as well. We look forward to seeing you downtown.
We have had a lot of new business's joining this past month due to our Executive Director's persistent follow up on leads and observance of activities throughout our community. We have so many daily activities in this city it's sometimes hard to keep track os all that is going on. We are fortunate enough to have an office staff and volunteers to keep us informed. If you haven't taken advantage of our weekly e-blast you should really try it to help promote your business.
We are still looking for a few more golfers for our chamber tournament coming up on July 28th at the Port Ludlow Golf Club. The course is fantastic and Port Ludlow's staff is incredible. Our next luncheon is on July 13th at the Kiana Lodge in Suquamish and our speakers will be The Humane Society and Babe Ruth Baseball. Our next After-Hours will be at the Poulsbo Animal Clinic on 7th Avenue in Poulsbo on July 21st at 5:30 PM.
If you would like to contribute to any of your chamber events or activities it would be greatly appreciated and received. We have a few sponsorships available for the Golf Classic and the Americana Music Festival. The Viking Fest Corporation is also still accepting contributions and sponsorships to insure a great production of Poulsbo's Fireworks on the 3rd. We thank everyone in our community and all surrounding area's for their support. I hope you have a wonderful month and join in on some of our activities.
Regards,
Tom Taylor, President |

New Member Spotlights
Cardinal Media - Cardinal media understands that our client's ROI is king. As such, our goals are to provide high quality, incredible service and the very best value on every project. We firmly believe no one else in the business comes close. Cardinal Media is a case-study for the kind of highly flexible, adaptable, fast-response video production house that is evolving from what was (and for many, still is) the video production business model of the previous 20 years. Our customer's evolving demand for creative solutions means partnering with companies such as Cardinal Media for strong ROI, overall savings, high-end production capabilities and custom solutions. New media channels are already here, users have changed, and everyone must adapt, while still maintaining hight standards of quality and service. The methods have changed but the storytelling must stay strong. We love savings our clients money, while giving them the same bang for the buck as the "big guys."
First Stage Montessori preschool and kindergarten is the latest preschool to offer quality Montessori education in the North and Central Kitsap areas. The preschool will offer two half-day programs, for students aged 3-6 years old. Located on a wonderful, secure, wooded campus, easily accessible from Poulsbo and Silverdale WA, our goal is to provide a safe, respectful and fun learning environment, in which children may discover, learn and grow, while becoming increasingly independent and self-motivated. Curriculum areas covered include math, language, geography, history, sensorial work, practical life skills, art, music, movement and more! We practice grace and courtesy, developing a consideration for others, and also learn to respect and take care of our indoor and outdoor environments. As our students explore and discover the world around them, it is our mission to inspire them with interesting experiences and stimulating materials, resulting in the nurturing of inquisitive and eager, lifelong learners.
The owner of First Stage Montessori is Ali Budge, a certified teacher from the United Kingdom, where she was born and raised. Ali has a passion for working in early education and has more than 20 years teaching experience, ranging from preschool through to high school. She has taught in different parts of the world, including England, Scotland, the Middle East, Africa and the U.S.A, providing her with a wealth of experience, upon which to draw.
Ali took her American Montessori Society (A.M.S.) training at the Montessori Education Institute of the Pacific Northwest (M.E.I.P.N.) to become an Early Childhood Montessori certified teacher.
Ali has been teaching kindergarten for over 6 years, three years of which were spent at the wonderful Montessori Country School on Bainbridge Island and now, just having finished working as a Junior Elementary Teacher at Voyager Elementary Montessori School on Bainbridge Island, she relishes the prospect of teaching in, and operating, her own school.
As a resident of Poulsbo, Ali is a mother of two energetic girls, but when she isn't busy running them about or teaching; she can often be found swimming, cycling, kayaking in Liberty Bay or 'treading the boards' in some of the wonderful theaters of Kitsap County. Ali is now delighted to be opening First Stage Montessori and is keen to meet the new families who will be a part of this wonderful, new and exciting venture.
Savor the Sound is an artist driven youth music non-profit that creates and facilitates programs from pre-k through high school. We operate on the idea and fact that early music education improves IQ, reasoning, arithmetic, English, social awareness while reducing the risk of dangerous behaviors later in life. We also operate on the idea that living your dreams and passions, while being fair and giving, makes the world a far better place. Come meet us at the Brownsville marina, Yacht Club 0n Saturday July 9th 7pm and let us give you a world class, intimate concert with two national artists, complimentary small bites by Tizley's Europub and great prizes $15 at the door. http://savorthesound.org

Ambassador Corner
I am a pet lover, whether four legged, feathered, finned or furry, I love and care for them all. I am here to help you be secure in the fact your animals are well taken care of and happy. Whether you are off to work for the day or off on a vacation of a lifetime, you will not worry about your pets at home and you can focus on what you need to focus on and let me focus on your animals.
I do pet sitting in my home or yours, I will take your dogs out for walks and have social time with them. If your animal needs to go to a groomer or vet appointment, I will provide transportation and literally hold their paws during their appointments, or hold them in my arms.
All my foster pets are family in my home and my heart. Your animals sleep on my bed if they choose, eat with us, play with us, go for car rides with us, and we go for walks whether at a park or around town, we spend time together and we become family. Isn't that what is important in life, after all... Family.
