Message from President Tom Taylor, February, 2011

Tom Taylor

Welcome Poulsbo Chamber Members and those who would like to become members.  I hope you're as excited as I am to start the 2011 year off right.  We have a lot of new life in our community this year by the way of new events and activities throughout our city.  I would like to thank our Past President, Linda Lincoln, for all her hard work and the improvements she accomplished.  I look forward to her input as well as all chamber members this year in making all we do a huge success.

During our 2011 planning session your board committed to the excellence of serving you, the business community.  Our executive director along with each board member will strive to achieve growth in our chamber membership and better assist each member business.  We are working with new programs such as Shop Local North Kitsap, which will benefit all who take advantage of it.  We will continue with our Economic Development Committee and Military Discount program as well.  We are working closely with our Mayor and the City of Poulsbo, HDPA, Poulsbo Village, Viking Avenue merchants and College Market Place to insure the best events that we can offer.

My job is to meet and welcome all new businesses to our community and show them how being a chamber member can benefit their growth.  If all members do the same we will have a successful year.  We have a wonderful Executive Director, Adele Heinrich, and Administrative Assistant, Donna Dimof, to assist you with all your needs.  Let's all work together to make this a fun and profitable year.

Regards,

Tom Taylor, President

Letter of Thanks

Your know the best laid plans can often go awry.  During the Greater Poulsbo Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards Banquet on Friday, January 28, 2011, I neglected to thank some people that contributed greatly to the event.  First, not only is the banquet a great opportunity to honor fellow community members it is an opportunity to thank members of the Chamber who have gone above and beyond for the Chamber.
I would like to thank DEF Productions and Danny Fritts for the great job in providing a quality sound system and background music, Dan White for his awesome job in producing the Past Presidents plaque, Ruth Ann Dunn with ProtraitEfx for her photography and donation to Fishline.  The Committee that worked on this events was awesome and it would not have happened without their efforts!  Adele Heinrich, Lynanne White, Linda Foster, Pam Whitt, Kathleen Haag and Margaret Bradshaw.  Thank you also to The Loft @ Latitude 47.7 for the lovely dessert, and to Jak's cafe, That's a Some Italian and Tizley's for the hors d'oeuvres.
It has been my sincere pleasure to serve as your President.  I look forward to the future of the Chamber and the leadership of Tom Taylor to take the Chamber to the next level.

Getting to Know Our Members

Heritage Fireplace Shop, a family owned business with shared responsibilities, this company is working toward a larger presence in the market with a showroom large enough to showcase many more products.

Dee Ann is one of the family of partners and while growing up she wanted to do something important to help others.  She is still not done helping other people.  Her first jobs were babysitting, cleaning houses and washing dishes at a local restaurant.  Learning from her older sister to be responsible for herself Dee Ann was always encouraged to be positive about life in general.  Her great faith has also supported her all these years.

Since 1959 Dee Ann's parents owned "Winslow's Masonry" out of their home.  Then in May of 1980 they opened "Heritage Fireplace Shop" in Gorst.  They have expanded and remodeled four times since then and expanded to Poulsbo in 1986.  The current facilities has been expanded and a warehouse added in 1992.

Dee Ann is married with three grown, married daughters. She and her husband have two grandchildren as well.
