Message from President Lincoln, October 2010
We have officially moved into our fall season with loads of color and crispness in the air. What a year it has been so far for your Chamber. We have been weathering through a tough budget year just like every organization in our community. In an attempt to improve the budget numbers we will be launching a membership campaign on October 28th. More information will follow, but now is the time for interested members to gather up your team to help grow the Chamber. I hope those of you that regularly read the newsletter will step forward and help with this event.
The Awards Banquet committee is in full swing and hard at work preparing for the annual event in January. I hope everyone has been thinking of potential nominees for recognition from the Chamber. Just go to the website and click on the nomination form, fill it out and hit send. There are many projects, community events, organizations and individuals who contribute time, energy and effort on behalf of the greater good of our community. Let's recognize those efforts with a community award.
I would like to take a moment to thank all of the people that worked on the Americana Music Festival, great job! Also, I would like to thank Debbie Nazarino and Nicole Robbins for all of their hard work in the Buy Local North Kitsap program. The program is off to a great start, thank you to all that had a hand in making the program so GREAT. As you will note there are many committees that are very active at various times of the year, I encourage you to consider involvement in one of the committees. It is a great way to give back to the community, benefit your business and help the Chamber.
Words of wisdom:
Some people tend to be "task focused," and other "relationship focused."
Both are necessary and needed.
Best regards,
Linda M. Lincoln, President |

| Director's Message:
As Linda mentioned it is hard to realize that fall of 2010 is upon us. This is my favorite time of the year and we have started doing a little decorating to the Chamber office. Our requests were answered and a anonymous donor arrived one day with a 32" television to mount on the office wall. The labor has been secured, the bracket purchased, and we await the exact moment it will happen.
As usual we are busy preparing for the next topic of our year: Our 2011 Chamber Community Guide. In preparation for that task we are asking all of our members to check their business information on the website, tell us if it is incorrect and make sure that your dues are paid in full. This guide goes to every relocation request, visitor request and local resident possible. The guide will be available in member businesses around the local area. Your business information and possibly your ad will be in 10,000 booklets to share around the area. We have sent 6 boxes of books (120 in each box) just to the Sequim Chamber of Commerce to share the message about Poulsbo. Sales brochures and more information will be out shortly with new marketing efforts.
Our Buy Local North Kitsap program is moving forward quickly and with great success. We just signed up the first 5 Kingston Chamber Members. It truly is becoming a "north end" marketing plan. You will soon be seeing BLNK shopping bags with members logos in your local stores as people SHOP LOCAL!!
Plans are in the works for next year's events and what their scope will be. Right now our focus is the upcoming Awards Banquet in January. On our website are the forms to nominate those special people who deserve recognition. In these tough times what a special event it will be as we honor those who have persevered in 2010 to make our city grow and prosper.
Hope to see many of you with children and grandchildren down on Front Street on Sunday, October 31st Trick-or-Treating in a safe environment and patronizing our downtown merchants.

Skyhawk Press is an in-house letterpress, graphics, and custom apparel shop located in Poulsbo. From wedding invitations to team sportswear, we strive to turn our customers' ideas into reality. Our aim is to produce only high-quality, long-lasting products. Our website www.skyahwkpress.com showcases our most recent projects as well as the full line of products available. Whether it's coming up with cutting-edge designs on wedding invitations or revisiting the classics for t-shirts or other apparel projects, there's no job too big or too small.
Skyhawk Press was created by Alisha & Josh (and our little dog Zooey) Weiss who were looking to do something a little more creative after spending a decade in the aerospace industry. We formally launched in early 2010 and finally began full-service operations in June. From there we began designing and printing our own line of wedding invitations and moved on to custom clothing. Having both come from dedicated military families (and being a military family ourselves) we also have been coming up with cute and creative products for all of those who serve.
Resolve Environmental & Geotechnical, Inc.: may be a new business, but our people have been working in environmental and geotechnical fields for more than 20 years. Much of our work is on the Kitsap Peninsula, but we have been working all over the greater Seattle/Tacoma region and beyond. Much of our work is conducted directly in the field, with up-to-date computer systems in the office. Contact Ron Nance @ 360-297-8870 office or 360-865-1843 Cell. They are located at 8842 NE Lacey Street, Indianola, WA. Email: Resolveeg@comcast.net, www.resolveeg.com

Military Corner
Thanks to all the Military Personnel who helped with the Americana Music Festival!
Naval Base Kitsap consolidates educational services.
As of 01 October:
- The Navy College Learning Center (NOT the Navy College Office) will officially close its doors. Sailors will now need to use on-line resources such as the Online Academic Skills Course (OASC), which is available through NKO or the DANTES homepage.
- Staffing at NBK will essentially be reduced to half. This includes the reduction of service hours at Bangor. Please take note of the office hour changes at Bangor on the attached information sheet.
- All testing with the exception of the ACT, SAT and GED will only be provided by the Navy College Office at Naval Station Everett. (PSD NBK is currently working on being able to administer the ASVAB here at NBK, currently only NAS Whidbey and NSE are able to administer ASVAB re-takes).
Even with all these changes, Navy College NBK is still committed to providing our customers the best possible service with the resources on hand. Please assist me in ensuring this information receives widest dissemination
