Message from the President, September 2010
OK, were did summer go! It seems that the season was way too short, I hope everyone had a chance to take advantage of the few hot, sunny days that we did have. As we move into the beginnings of fall, children head back to school; moms heave a sigh of relief and business owners head full force into the last quarter of the year. But wait... there is yet one more opportunity to take time to enjoy a family outing. The Chamber's Americana Music Festival on September 11th is the perfect time to bring the family to Raab Park, to play games, check out the vendor booths, eat some really good food and most importantly listen to some really great music. Make your plans now!
On August 5th along with Adele, I attended an event as a representative of the Greater Poulsbo Chamber of Commerce. A reception was given by the Third Fleet Admiral on the USS Green Bay anchored in Seattle for Fleet week. Adele and I headed out to catch the ferry to attend this very impressive event. As we were climbing up the stairs to board the ship it was most impressive to be greeted by a red carpet lined with sailors and really impressive when a whistle blew and a bell rang, everyone saluted us as we walked down the carpet. Little did we know, but arriving directly behind us was a high ranking Navy official and the greeting was directed to him, not us. Can we say that military protocol is not something I am familiar with? It was a very nice event and I was honored that the Admiral included our Chamber as part of the guest list.
I would like to close with a quote that is near and dear to me; "three people helping each other will do as much as six alone". As we move through tough economic times it is important that as business leaders we seek out ways of consolidating, cooperating and communicating. The Chamber is the place where ideas can be brought to life and change can occur, please take the time to explore what the Chamber can do for you and you can do for the Chamber.
Best regards,
Linda M. Lincoln, President |

| Director's Message:
As we enter into September so many things are coming our way. First of all we have a new Administrative Assistant in Donna Dimof. Donna comes to us with loads of experience on the computer and is excited to be working with all of our members. Constance gave her some tips and training before leaving. I explained to Donna about all the events and projects coming up for "us." We keep very busy around this office trying to give you the best service we can.
First on the agenda is the American Music Festival, Saturday, September 11th at Frank Raab Park. Since it is September 11th we will begin with a small tribute to those lost on September 11th. What is new this year is a beer & wine garden with Hales Ales doing the pouring. We will again have the Kiwanis to serve burgers, sandwiches, chips, etc. Sandy's Gourmet Indulgences will be doing their chococates and carmel apples, the Chamber will be selling ice cream through Central Market. We will have a coffee vendor and many kids events. Also new this year is a "dunk tank" and some big "Poulsbo" names will be taking their turn over the water. Come and get them wet! The bands are the great event and we will have Kris Orlowski, Handful of Luvin, and Shark Sandwich. Should be a great time and we still plan for great weather.
We can use some volunteers for that event to help out in any number of ways so if you have Saturday, September 11th free, we could use our members.
Immediately after the Americana Music Festival we will be getting out to sell the 2011 Community Guide. You must be a member in good standing, having your dues paid, to be in the directory in two different catagories. Ad Sales will begin October 1st and we have had several members already asking is we are getting started on the project as yet. Prices for ads will remain the same as last year and the book will have a few new twists. Keep watching the Weekly Updates that come out every Thursday for all the lates ideas on the Community Guide.
Happy Fall, feels that way in the air.

Third Annual Poulsbo "Freedom Walk" Event
The Poulsbo American Legion Post 245 presents the Third Annual "9/11 Freedom Walk" on Saturday, September 11, 2010. The event will start @ 10 a.m. at the lower lot of the Parks and Recreation Building on front Street. Churches will ring their bells, we hope that all the downtown merchants will proudly display American Flags and you will want to walk with us.
The walk will proceed through Poulsbo Place to Sunset Street and then over to Jensen Way and finish at the American Legion Park. Estimated walking time for the 1/2 mile route should be less than 60 minutes. Come join in honoring our country and those who lost their lives on September 11th.
