Newfoundland Communities in Emergency |
Greetings to Friends, Clients and Colleagues,
It is with a heavy heart that I write this email in the wake of a devastating hurricane that swept through my island home of Newfoundland this past week. I'm inviting you to join me for a prayer ceremony this coming Monday, September 27th, at 7:00 pm at my home in Guelph, Ontario.
As you may be aware, the day after we finished our Sacred Earth Tour on the west coast of Newfoundland, the East coast of the province was hit by Hurricane Igor. The effects of this unprecedented storm left one person dead and affected more than 30 communities. Roads, bridges, homes and services were washed away by the rain and wind, leaving many people isolated and cut off from essential services like drinking water and food. Many communities (noted in red on the map above) are still in a state of emergency. Red Cross and the Armed Forces and local people are working to restore and rebuild essential services. You can make a donation to the Red Cross efforts related to Hurricane Igor in Newfoundland by calling 1-800-418-1111.
Our prayers will focus on peace and the well-being of all those affected by Hurricane Igor. We will envision the restoration of balance to the Island, and offer grace, compassion, and blessings to all her peoples and creatures.
Let me know if you would like to join me. If you are unable to be here in person but would like to join in Spirit, also let me know. Your energetic participation will be acknowledged and welcomed.
As always, I am so grateful for the friendship and connection of our community.
With Bright Autumn Blessings,
Alison
