On a beautiful brisk morning at the InBalance Ranch, eight individuals came together to gain tools for improving their personal and professional relationships. While they each came with individual challenges, a theme of wanting to hold onto their own authenticity and creativity while managing the demands of family life and the pressures of work quickly emerged.
At Stand InBalance, we believe that horses have a lot to teach us about how to be better humans - both as individuals and as a society. In a herd of horses, the social structure is very clear and each horse has an important and defined role.
Through connecting with and interacting with horses, we can gain important feedback about how we are experienced and the parts we play in our human "herd".

After the first group activity, the participants began to recognize the roles they typically played, both personally and profession- ally, as well as old patterns and beliefs that were no longer serving them; such as self-doubt, not asking for help, and anxiety.
"I've been afraid to assert myself at work and with my family, but I learned I'm most comfortable as a leader ... and I'm good at it!" Sheryl*, 29 year old manager.
Tom*, a man in his mid-thirties realized he was more comfortable taking direction from others, but that when he had a good idea and spoke up, his idea could be utilized to benefit himself and the group. "It feels great to own that I am really more comfortable as a follower and I can speak up when I want to." Several other people tapped into skills and strengths that they wanted to develop further, such as connecting with authenticity, setting and maintaining boundaries, and creativity. When the participants were able to ground themselves as individuals and come together as a team, they found that the horses would immediately respond and move toward the completion of the task at hand. Each person made some profound shifts in just a few hours. Tina, a woman in her early fifties, noticed that her tendency to worry about the worse case scenario often stopped her from moving forward .... Read More

"Working with [Stand] InBalance not only reduced my fear of horses, but also the fears I carry without a horse in sight. The treatment team hosted the sessions with insight and patience. I recommend them highly to anyone seeking solutions to those nagging questions."

| Greetings!
Spring is the time of year for rebirth, a transition from sleep to awakening, from bud to blossom, consider what you wish to leave behind in the depths of winter, and what aspects of yourself you wish to awaken and nourish for renewal and a rebirth of your spirit. Allow your inner authentic self to blossom, providing the warmth of renewal and energy for fun and frolicking. As hard as we work in western society it is important to take a minute to stop and smell the flowers or take a nap on the grass. If you have forgotten how to just be present and enjoy spring, take some advice from the horses; run, buck, graze, doze, and breath life into your soul.
