| Dear Friends, Family, & Clients,
We always encourage our clients to think about the possibility of long term care and its costs. The increase in the number of elderly citizens in our population has focused more attention on the particular legal and financial planning needs of older adults. Many people live long, healthy lives as a result of continued medical advances and increasingly healthier lifestyles. But all people face the possibility that some of those advanced years may involve mental or physical incapacity and/or the high costs of long term care. We encourage you to talk to your family about your particular needs and concerns. We also encourage you to emphasize this planning with your friends, clients, and colleagues.
If you haven't visited recently, take a look at our website. www.severns.com. In the past year we have made significant changes to our form and content. And within the past month, we have added new content on Federal Estate Tax and a link to a valuable website on end-of-life planning. Caringinfo.org is a valuable website for those who are caring for loved ones or facing end-of-life decisions.
We always appreciate referrals from our satisfied clients, friends, business
partners, and family members. We welcome the opportunity to serve the people you
care about. Click on the gray Forward Email at the bottom of the page to send
this newsletter to someone who will benefit from our insights.
Sincerely,
Severns & Stinson--Pathfinders in Elder Law |

facility or currently receiving in-home care?

Federal Estate Tax 2010 By: Jeffery D. Stinson
 Many have
already heard about the repeal of the Federal Estate Tax in 2010. Few
observers expected an actual repeal of the estate tax and instead
believed Congress would act to maintain the 2009 tax rate and exemption
level. Despite the expectations of all rational observers of the
process, however, Congress did not pass legislation in 2009 to extend
the current Federal Estate Tax rate and exemptions level. As a result,
the Federal Estate Tax is repealed for one year only, from January 1,
2010 through December 31, 2010. Read on |
