It's the Weekly What? for Friday, April 27th.
Today is a special day...
Because, around these parts it's "Pizza Day." Unfortunately one of the monkeys turned in an item about a "pizza shirt" and now we can't get anybody to think about anything else. Even the bananas (just look at them) aren't helping to get everyone back on track. I suppose we should consider ourselves lucky that this week's newsletter is even coherent. Barely. Well, refill your coffee, arm-wrestle your cube neighbor for the last donut-with-sprinkles and then head on over to our Facebook page. There's lots and lots more to look at there. Don't forget to leave an answer to the Weekly What? question: "What's your all-time favorite food?"
When QR codes go bad...
Just the other day we went from a QR code high to the lowest of QR code lows. The codes can be so much fun to use and can add to your customer's experience with your brand. Or, carelessly used, they can crush your customer's spirit like a crummy commercial can crush the innocent wonder of a 9 year-old boy with a decoder ring. Read more >>
Hooray for Pizza Day!
To quote from "Pizza Day" by The Aquabats: "Monday, hot dogs; Tuesday, tacos; Wednesdays hamburgers and chocolate milk; Thursdays sloppy joes and burritos in a bag; Friday was Pizza Day, the best day of the week, it always came with salad and a side of cold green beans." Well, hey! Now we've got the perfect shirt for Pizza Day! And it's even available in pepperoni. Perfect! Hooray for Pizza Day! >>
Facebook "Timeline." Don't ignore it.
It's not going to go away no matter how much you hate it. Here's a short video describing how you can make your new Timeline page as killer as a shark with laser blasters. "We're going to need a bigger boat..." >>
Incredible LEGO rooms
Take a look at these fabulous interiors. Wonderful lighting and sense of space. Fantastic colors. Where should the couch go? Oh, and the "rooms" are only a few inches across! >>
Garbage Pail Kids! It's high art!
Remember the Garbage Pail kids? Who could forget characters like "Leaky Lindsay" with her strings of snot; "Boney Tony" unzipping his head to reveal his cracked skull; and "Art Apart" gazing at his limbs strewn across the floor. Well, the low-brow collector cards that your teacher was always confiscating now have their own coffee table art book! High culture! >>
Social media myth busting!
Unfortunately lots of myths and misinformation surround social media and its use. "Nobody uses it." "Our customers aren't there." "Its not worth the effort if you don't have a bazillion followers/fans." "It'll make your hair fall out." Unfortunately these sorts of misconceptions keep folks from making good use of social media. No, it's not going to turn your taco truck into a multi-national franchise overnight, but you ignore it at your peril if your competitors are jumping on the social media platform. Yeah, and Bigfoot doesn't exist, either >>
Speaking of... local pros weigh in on social media usage.
There's almost more social media outlets than you can shake a stick at, so which one should you use? Should you be using more than one SM outlet? How do you pick the right one? The Vancouver Business Journal recently published an article with some great tips from area pros. (Just so you know, we're quoted in it, but it's still a good read!) "Knowing your network" >>
Rainbow cupcakes...all the way!
Cupcakes? Awesome. RAINBOW cupcakes? Unspeakable awesome. Especially DOUBLE RAINBOW cupcakes! (As in two cupcakes. For a decent snack, you can't have just one. You need at least two.) Don't worry about all that food coloring. It's absolutely safe. Absolutely. >>
Share the fun with a friend! It's easy, just click the "Forward email" link below. They'll be glad you did!
