It's the Weekly What? for Friday, March 23rd.

Pass the snow shovel.

We spent most of this morning cracking the whip on the monkeys as they dug us out from under last night's "snowpocalypse." Then we had to listen to all their whining and moaning about getting back to the Smith-Coronas when they really wanted to just build snowmen... snowmonkeys... whatever. Such whiners. Anyway, now it's sunny and they're begging to be let out again. Really guys? Twice in one day? Do you ever do any work? Sheesh. Anyway, we've got a great roundup for you this week, and as always there's tons more on our Facebook page. So when you're done here, head on over there! And don't forget to leave an answer to the Weekly What? question: "In the movie of your life, what actor would portray you?"

How does pinning bunches of photos on Pinterest qualify as marketing?

Sure, we get that all the time: Marketers are completely detached from reality, what with all the crazy talk and three-martini lunches and the sitting around just staring off into space and calling that "work." This latest business of using Pinterest as a marketing tool? Yeah, you guys have just jumped the tracks. Here's our second installment in our on-going series on Pinterest for marketing. Read more >>

So just what is it that makes Pinterest so... addicting?

Kind of like learning how potato chips are made* doesn't ruin the enjoyment of eating them (Mmmm... potato chips.), trying to figure out what the heck makes Pinterest so much fun to use in no way diminishes the fun of trying to PIN ALL THE THINGS!! Yes with the pins >>

* We're not suggesting that how potato chips are made is somehow gross and off-putting. It's that knowing what's "under the hood" doesn't detract from the sheer crunchy delightful, salty magic that are potato chips. (Mmmm... potato chips.)

Who wants some free fonts?

Use them for your next ransom note, love letter, resume, whatever. Free fonts! Go check them out! >>

So who's using social media for what?

It's no secret: We loves the infographics! Here's a neat one revealing just what sorts of folks are using the various and sundry social media outlets. For instance: Facebook users have "some college" education, are middle class, and middle aged! We'll find out who still lives in their parent's basement, too! >>

Forget sea-monkeys! Pet jellyfish!

Let's see a show of hands: Who here, as a child, was disappointed by the truth of sea-monkeys? Yeah, you send away the page clipped from your comic book and what do you get? Microscopic brine shrimp. Boo. They never "frolicked" or even wore a crown. But this jellyfish-in-a-bottle is neat. It'll respond to your every move, never need feeding, and never ever leave you all alone in this cold world. Too good to be true, you say? Discover the secret of the jellyfish-in-a-bottle!

The best, most incredible kitty screen-saver ever!

Recently we had a visitor stop by and marvel at the amazing cat screensaver. "Amazingly realistic fur texture, but it just sits there licking itself." Then the screensaver reached out and swatted him. Wait, what just happened? Keep an eye on the mouse! >>

Vernal equinox. Yay.

The Google "doodle" for March 20th marked the official beginning of spring in the northern hemisphere. Yeah. Not so's you'd notice around these parts. Meh. >>

The teachers at the School of Hard Knocks are the best...

Do you know Etsy? Yeah, that online marketplace where you can set up shop and sell just about anything. (Without that weird over-priced flea-market collectible insanity "Never Removed From Box!!" vibe of Ebay.) Well, here's a fantastic set of "mistakes" that one seller has learned from. In fact, the awesome thing is that they apply to just about ANYTHING! Read and learn >>

Ahh...1982. Was there ever a better year?

Braving crazy crowds to see a movie about a goofy-looking alien with a taste for Reese's Pieces, Vans checkerboard shoes, and big hair. It's amusing to see how much has changed in... good grief! THIRTY years?? Oh, we feel old. Time for a nice sit down. Hey bud, let's party! (But I want to be home by 9:30.) >>

DIY corner: Make a super cool handbag out of potato chip bags! (Mmmm...potato chips.)

It's actually fancier than you might imagine. See, you're weaving strips of the chip bags together to create something totally funky. We wonder if the bags smell like potato chips afterwards? Oh, that would be so distracting. Can you imagine? No, I'm not mugging you, I just want to smell your handbag. Is that "cool ranch"? >>
