It's the Weekly What? for Friday, February 10th.
If this edition of the newsletter stinks, don't blame me. Blame the monkeys.
Holy smokes, it's the end of the week already? Who sent the room full of monkeys home? We've got a newsletter to do! Someone get them back in here and back at their typewriters! Too late. Unfortunately, instead of the usual high-quality writing that you've come to expect from the Weekly What? you're stuck with me. Not the "us" that refers to the room full of monkeys pounding away at Smith-Coronas. I'll do my best so please bear with me as I stumble through this week's newsletter un-aided. (My mother always told me to never trust a monkey.) Perhaps you should just skip straight to our Facebook page and leave an answer to the Weekly What? question: "What's your favorite food to cook?"
We'll see you there!
What do all those crazy numbers on your credit card mean?
That whole string of numbers isn't your account number. Your actual account number is just a few digits towards the end of the string. The other numbers signify the type of card, who issued it, and a way to validate the card (to see if it's fake). Fascinating stuff! Cha-ching!
Faithful reader Cathy Herman thinks she found mistake in the math at the bottom. Can you find it? Math makes my head hurt so I have to go take a nap now.
Proof again that we need a return to space-themed advertising.
Seriously, who wouldn't want to buy bread in a can after seeing this cute tyke with an astro-bubble on his head afloat in an asteroid field of drifting biscuits? Asteroids! >>
Lovely DIY "pixelated" pop-up Valentine's Day cards!
These look really cool and are an ideal way for you to express your love for the geek in your life! I <3 you >>
You there, smile! Or you're fired!
Because happiness breeds success. And the best way to make happy employees is to threaten them with a good firing if they don't smile. The beatings will continue until morale improves... >>
This is what counted for home improvement in 1970?
Is that inflatable furniture that I see? So it's true, what they said about furniture in the 70's. Make sure you click through to the full gallery to see the... pink kitchen. Oh! The wallpaper hurts my eyes! >>
Crayon heart suncatchers
Not only are these cool and easy to make, they're fun to make too! Grate some crayons, melt 'em with an iron! What fun! Just don't use Mom's cheese-grater >>
Got an iPhone 4? Love old Mac hardware?
Check out these fab iPhone 4 cases styled after old Mac computer cases. Fabulous! If you don't have an iPhone 4 you're just not cool. >>
Remember Polaroid film?
I remember the fun and wonder of watching an image slowly develop on Polaroid pictures. Never wondered how it worked, figured it was just magic or Keebler Elves. Well, here's a brief video that demystifies the creation and process of Polaroid film. Neat! They still aren't cookies, though...
This is it! The final Valentine's Day craft activity!*
This is the last Valentine's themed project I can come up with. After this, you're on your own. Here's a DIY for making cute little heart-shaped pocket... things. You can put a ring inside (romantic!!), stash some coins in one, make a key-fob (nice, but not so romantic), or whatever you can think of. You don't even need to know how to sew! Super easy. Use felt, pleather, real leather, other fabrics. All kinds of stuff. Now go! Make something charming for your Valentine! >>
*Not really. You can go to our Facebook page for plenty more cool Valentine's crafty stuff. But you're running out of time!
What will you be like as a grumpy old hipster?
I can totally see myself like this, regaling any youngsters around me about how cool the 1990's and early 2000's were. The advent of the World Wide Web, the dot com bubble debacle, Tamagotchis. It'll be so much fun to annoy and embarrass my children and grandchildren! When I was young the Internet was *bleeping* awesome! >>
If you've gotten this far, thank you. I'll have the monkeys back in front of their typewriters for next week's newsletter. Pinkie swear.
Share the fun with a friend! It's easy, just click the "Forward email" link below. They'll be glad you did!
