It's the Weekly What? for Friday, October 14th.
You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have... The MDS Weekly What?
Just so you know, we really go all kind of nuts over QR Codes at the beginning of this edition of the newsletter. So feel free to skip over that and hit the fun stuff. Although you'll probably be sorry if you do. Because your friends will be in the know and you'll still be laughing about a moose in a pool. So there you go. Check out the links, and then stop by our Facebook page for the usual excess of linkage fun times. And while you're there, please leave your answer the Weekly What? question: "What is the best book you’ve read about your field/vocation?"
We'll see you there!
More fun with QR Code marketing
No, this newsletter doesn't consist of cold leftovers. Really. That said, here's another link to something you may have seen before: QR Codes! Now bear with us, okay, because here's an article that lays out a few more good ideas for using QR Codes in your everyday marketing and advertising activities. Go see >>
Even more fun with QR Codes! 29 creative uses for QR codes.

Resources for making your own QR Codes (and they're free!)
Okay, so we're sure that you positively MUST have the QR Code bug by now. I mean, we basically hit you over the head with the QR Code equivalent of a frying pan. A large one and very heavy, too. So we've put together a handy list of our favorite QR Code creation resources. The best part is that they're FREE and very flexible and powerful. Go make some! >>
Now this was a cool freebie!
It's too bad I missed out on this, but I don't think I even had cable TV back then! (1997!) Anyway, this was a cool set of collector cards promoting the newly formed Cartoon Network and featured interpretations of classic cartoon characters by artists and illustrators such as John Kricfalusi, Gary Baseman, and J. Otto Seibold. The "fashion" photos are a bit weird, though. Didn't we look funny in 1997?? Still, we'd love to create a marketing device such as this... won't someone hire us for a super-cool project? Read on! >>
Here we go with the "branding" thing again.
It's one of our favorite topics here. Not because we're the sorts to sit around the boardroom table and leverage our assets, or shift paradigms, but because this stuff matters. It's part of the "big picture" that many smaller businesses accidentally overlook. Here's a great little article that outlines 10 things you need to keep in mind when you're building or maintaining your brand. Read more >>
And now for something completely different...
Hey! There's a moose in my swimming pool! What's it doing there? Looks like the doggy paddle to us... Seriously though, all the humans involved seem to think that the moose is "stuck" or "trapped." It looks quite happy to us! (Actually there's some internal debate over this.) Splish splash! >>
3D, you-put-em-together greeting cards
These things are so neat. Takes us back a few years to the days of safety scissors and Elmer's glue...although these are quite a bit more sophisticated than that. And arty. Read more >>
Now, break out the safety scissors and Elmer's glue!
Yep, it's time for you to make your own 3D and pop-up cards! These look really easy and fun to make. Better get some crayons, too. Get busy! >>
