It's the Weekly What? for Friday, July 22nd. Now more than ever.
This is what happens when you keep a bunch of designers caffeinated, sugared-up, and stuck indoors:
Productivity goes right out the window (where it is promptly soaked by all the rain we're getting) and we all see who can find the "best" stuff on the internet. This newsletter presents only the best of the best. If you want the extended mix and the b-sides, you'll need to check out our Facebook page. Speaking of, grab your "air guitar" and head on over to answer the Weekly What? question: "What's your favorite song?" (Throw in a few choice lyrics for bonus cred.)
We'll see you there!
Advertising is dead...
...Long live brand experiences. "Digital brand experiences" are eclipsing more traditional advertising media — print ads, TV ads, billboards — and thus becoming the "new advertising." Read more >>
What's black and white and read all over?
Our apologies for that lame joke... we just couldn't help ourselves! The new Vancouver Community Library opened its shiny new doors onto 3.8 miles of seriously cool shelf space and other amenities last Sunday. It's a really fantastic space for bibliophiles. Make sure you check out the video to see the amazingly cool word-wall-mural-thing. Go and see! >>
What do you get when you toss a VW bug into a room full of white liquid?
You get this crazy art installation. 'Nuff said. Check it out >>
"My little pony, what's with the angry eyes..."

Raise your arms! Release that negative energy stored in your armpits!
Yeah, seriously. Check out #8 in this list of 11 ways to be happier at work. We noticed with some disappointment that there's no mention of a three-martini lunch as a potential mood-elevator. Now put your arms down >>

Seeing them so close up doesn't make me like Brussels sprouts any better.
Even so, these are some pretty amazing super close-up photos of food. The fortune cookie looks like the surface of a hostile, desert-like planet. Zoom in >>
A rainy-day activity for the middle of summer!
Yeah great. We should be out working on a tan, but instead we're stuck inside creating gak. But hey! Who doesn't love playing with slime? It's super easy to make and only takes three ingredients. Get slimin' >>
You may as well dump your "in" box into your "out" box because you aren't going to get any more work done this morning...
The deceptively titled "Tone Matrix" which, according to its description, is a "simple sinewave synthesizer triggered by an ordinary 16-step sequencer. Each triggered step causes a force on the underlaying wave-map, which makes it more cute." Whatever. It's a super-fun productivity sinkhole. We love making little tinkly bits of background music for our work. Enjoy! >>
