Vienna Coffee Company is now a USDA Certified Organic Facility
In the same environmentally friendly outlook, Vienna Coffee Company became a USDA Certified Organic facility earlier last month. VCC has always roasted Certified Organic specialty coffee from international organizations like OCIA (Organic Crop Improvement Association) and Mayacert, but now we are official. VCC goes to great lengths to try and be as environmentally friendly as possible from recycling to composting coffee chaff. We believe we should all do our part to be good stewards of this beautiful earth we call home.

From the Coffee Fields of Santa Maria de Jesus, Guatemala
By, Les Stoneham
As
March comes to an end, so does the coffee harvest in Santa Maria de
Jesus, Guatemala, home to our La Armonia Hermosa
coffee. Being here alongside the farmers for all parts of the
process from ripe fruit on the tree to roasted coffee for tasting, I
am never more reminded of the work, skill and miracle that it takes
to make an outstanding tasting coffee.
Now that the
harvest is completed its time to move onto the next project of
finding land, raising funds, and building Santa Maria's first coffee
processing mill. This micro-mill will allow for more
opportunities for jobs and resources for the farmers and better
quality of coffee. It will also be able to handle larger volumes of
coffee so the project can grow even more in the coming years. To see
the mill become reality, however, we first must secure $10,000 in
micro-loan financing. Through the investments of individuals
interested in seeing this project move forward and improve lives of
farmers, we can meet this goal. Interest will be paid on the loans in
the form of freshly roasted coffee.
Building of the
coffee mill is planned to begin in June. We'll keep funding and
construction updates coming as they happen. Interested in coming to
see the beautiful land, meet the farmers and learn more first hand?
Email us
about coming and taking a tour. In the meantime, hold your
breath for the arrival of 2009's crop of La Armonia Hermosa to the
Roastery later this summer.
