In the spotlight on PBS' "Antiques Roadshow"; Travel Channel's "Off Limits" and a recent taping of a music video by rap artist Wiz Khalifa, Carrie Furnaces Hard Hat tours are set to begin on April 28. New this year is expanded tour availability with the historic site now open 10 AM and 1 PM Fridays and Saturdays in May and 10 AM and 1 PM Wednesday, Fridays and Saturdays throughout the summer months.

blacksmith artist Jymm Annual Hammer-In at W.A. Young & Sons Foundry and Machine Shop April 21
The Appalachian Blacksmiths Association and the PIttsburgh Area Artist-Blacksmiths Association will be holding their annual Hammer-In at Rices Landing. The day long event will feature continuous blacksmithing demonstrations, tours of the historic W.A. Young & Sons Foundry and Machine Shop, 120 Water Street, Rices Landing, and an auction of handcrafted iron work to benefit the blacksmith organizations and continued foundry and machine shop restoration.  Pyrotopia: Festival of Fire Arts April 28
The inaugural Festival of Fire Arts will present fire's diversity of use by artists and celebrate humankind's primal fascination with fire at the Historic Pump House & Water Tower, 880 E. Waterfront Drive, Munhall. Events include Fiery Flamenco Dancing; A game of Flaming Simon; Fire Spinners and Dancers; a Megavolt Tesla Coil; a ground-effects fireworks show by New Castle's Pyrotecnico and a special late-night lighting of the Carrie Blast Furnaces!
