Donors Remain Committed to the Work of SCICU
In spite of a struggling economy, individual and corporate donations to SCICU totaled almost $480,000 for the fiscal year ending August 31, 2009. Strong leadership from the Development Committee and Board of Trustees resulted in a campaign that was down only slightly from the previous year. When added to the other income streams, more than $747,000 was disbursed to the 20 SCICU members in FY 2008-09 for student scholarships and other awards in support academic excellence. |

Schools Fight Flu
Representatives from every SCICU college and university met in Columbia on September 22 to learn more about fighting the H1N1 and common flu viruses. While each campus has been making plans for months to try to prevent or manage an outbreak of influenza among students, faculty, and staff, the SCICU-sponsored workshop, Pandemic Crisis Management, brought together experts from DHEC, SLED, and the private sector to discuss the most current information and findings. Campus multi-disciplinary teams had an opportunity to share common experiences and best practices during the course of the day. | |
