Terrapin Station Winery
Greetings!

It's been a long, COLD winter but we've been busy. The 2010 white wines are almost ready to be packaged and some of our reds are not far behind that. We also are about to make some modifications to our temporary tasting room to enable us to reopen in April, this time enabling everyone to come on inside to heated and air conditioned comfort.

April will also be the start of baseball at Terrapin Station Winery. We are the new home field of the Elkton Eclipse Base Ball Club. This is REAL vintage baseball (circa 1864) that we think everyone will enjoy.

We will be open this weekend (February 19th and 20th) as part of the Chesapeake Wine Trail's Wine and Chocolate weekend. We hope you can swing by!

This is a Chesapeake Wine Trail Event
Wine and Chocolate
What a Great Combination!

As part of the Chesapeake Wine Trail's Wine and Chocolate weekend, we will be open this Saturday and Sunday (February 19th and 20th). In addition to wine tastings, we will also be featuring chocolates from North East Chocolates and Hand Forged Jewelry by Moolenschot. We have some wine clearance specials planned as well since we need to make room for the new wines that will be ready in the next couple of months.

Wine tastings will be $3 which includes keeping the glass ($1 if you come back with your TSW glass).

We will be open Saturday 12-4 and Sunday 1-4, with winery and vineyard tours (weather permitting for the vineyard) at 2 PM each day.

We hope to see you there!

Case Club Members Make Wine
December Event Let Them Play Winemaker

On December 11 we invited our case club members to help us decide how to make two of our wines. They got to experience how we perform blending trials to come up with the combination of residual sugar, acid and the varieties that make up how we finalize the wine.

We chose two wines to blend: our 2010 Reserve Traminette and our upcoming revival of Cecil White. This was our first time doing this with a group, and everybody (including us) learned something. We think you'll like the resulting wines which should be out early this spring.

Joining our case club is easy: buy a case! You can either do that all at once, or we can track your purchases until you get there. From then on you will receive a 10% discount at our tasting room on everything as well as being invited to special events for our members.

Happenings at the Winery
As always, we can't stand still

There are always things going on at the winery, even when we aren't open.

For starters, we have laid out another 2 acre block of vineyard for planting this spring. It will be located along MD 213, close to where the planned new entrance will be. Now you'll be able to watch the vines grow from two different places on the property.

The Elkton Eclipse Base Ball Club, which plays vintage 1864 baseball, will make TSW their home field starting this April. See baseball the way it used to be played (and before steroids!).

We are making modifications to our temporary tasting room after this weekend's event so that we can reopen in April. With these modifications we'll be able to invite everyone inside. We are also working on a plan for an event tent outside so that during the warmer months we'll be able to have some nice outdoor seating as well as some live musical performances. Heck, we could even host an event or two (hint, hint :-) ). If everything goes well, we might even have the new entrance and parking lot done sometime this year.

Finally, many of our wines are just getting finished up and will start to arrive this spring. In addition to refreshing our famous 1.5 L box design, we plan on adding a new package to the mix for some specific wines (but we're not telling yet).

We're ready for winter to end, and the grapes are calling us to get out and get to work. Soon they will be budding and we'll be serving up new wines from the excellent 2010 vintage. We hope to see you this weekend and later this spring. We will also be at some new festivals and new events this year - busy as always. Stay warm and enjoy a glass.
