Jack at desk Welcome from the Director!

Happy Spring! Time for rebirth and renewal. And, perhaps that includes a little "tune up" for your business.
In this monthly update we call your attention to the opportunities in our region that may help you start, grow, or manage your business.

One of the tools that the SOU SBDC offers in order to learn to manage the numbers is "Profit Mastery." As you will see below, "Profit Mastery" is a 4-week course that is designed to teach financial intelligence. The course teaches the relationships between the Profit/Loss statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow, and what we can do as business owners to better affect our profit line. I urge you to review the information about the program and give us a call if you have questions. Registration for the class is taking place now.
It is our mission at the SBDC to provide the resources necessary to create a sustainable business model. The business counselors at the SBDC can guide you through business planning, marketing, financial understanding, and general business management.
For one-on-one, no-fee business counseling simply make an appointment with our office by calling (541) 552-8300, or visit our website:

We welcome your comments and feedback as we strive to serve your business needs.

Best regards,

Oregon Get Your Business Online

Why get online?
63% of small businesses in the U.S. do NOT have a website.
97% of consumers look online for local products and services.

For the next year, Oregon businesses can receive a free website, in addition to free tools, training, and resources to help their business succeed online.

In partnership with Intuit and other local partners, Google is offering free easy-to-build websites, a customized domain name and web-hosting for one year.  The goal is to help drive economic growth by giving Oregon businesses the tools and resources to establish a website, find new customers, and grow their business.

"Oregon is a small business state and we need those businesses to succeed, create jobs and power the economy," said Senator Ron Wyden.  "A compelling web presence can help Oregon's small businesses to attract and cater to new customers and new markets around the world.  I am gratified that Google is here to help Oregon businesses get in the game."

"Oregon's small businesses benefit immensely from their strategic use of broadband technologies," said Michael Lainoff, State Director, Oregon Small Business Development Center Network.  "Google's Get Your Business Online program provides an important 'first step' for many business owners throughout our state."
