Wine Recommendations from Kevin M. Vogt, Master Sommelier
Greetings!

Perhaps you read my recent article on the health benefits of red wines... particlularly Zinfandel.  If not, here is a link to the article... just scroll down the page to
"Are Certain Wine Varietals Healthier Than Others?" to find it.

Barrels
Not that you needed another reason to drink Zinfandel, but additional health benefits like saponins are certainly a compelling enough reason to open a bottle of Zin.

I would like to give you another couple of reasons.  The Rosenblum Snows Lake Zinfandel 2006 is a beautiful wine to drink now and we discounted it to make it a wine that you can drink daily.

A little more on Rosenblum...

No name is more synonymous to Zinfandel than Rosenblum.  In 1978, veterinarian Dr. Kent Rosenblum and his wife Kathy founded Rosenblum Cellars.  After several years of making wine at home, Kent and Kathy partnered up with some close friends and started Rosenblum Cellars.

Rosenblum quickly began to gain the praise of the wine community for the great quality of Zinfandel that they were making.  The signature ripe, fruity, robust style jumps from every glass.  Now, fast-forward more than three decades, Rosenblum IS Zinfandel.  No producer of Zinfandel make such a wide variety from so many different vineyards and regions.  Decades of 90-plus point scores and gold medals have built further on this legacy.

Rosenblum Zin
"This wine has a heritage and pedigree second to none in the Zinfandel world. Our only question was would the terroir of high mountain Lake County carry it forward? Well the answer is a resounding "Yes!" The wine exhibits wild black cherries, and violets in the bouquet which reflects its red soil and mountain roots. And dark smoky blackberries with hints of Asian spice in the flavors which are true to the St. Peter's clone of fruit."

"This gem boasts a dark ruby/purple hue along with floral, blueberry, and boysenberry characteristics interwoven with black currant, camphor, earth, and oak notes. With crisp acidity, sweet tannin, and a long, heady finish, this elegant beauty is filled with substance. Drink it over the next 5-7 years." 92 Points The Wine Insiders
