Many psychoanalysts are beginning to realize that the enstrangement between their field and academia has been a great misfortune. Dr. Paul will speak about this estrangement and innovative steps Emory University has taken to integrate psychoanlysis inacademic life. The panelists will encourage lively discussion about what the university can provide psychoanalysis, as well as what psychoanalysis can give back to academic thought and university life.

New: Psychoanalytic Night at the Movies |

7:00 pm
at a private home in Durham (directions provided when tickets purchased) NCPF launces its new "Psychoanalytic Night at the Movies" series with the screening of Memento (2000). After the film, Dr. Lanny Tucker will lead a discussion regarding memory and how reality testing is shaped by remembering and/or forgetting.
Light snacks and beverages provided. If you are interested in attending consider purchasing your tickets TODAY as space is limited to the first 20 people. Tickets to this event can be purchased online for $25 per person. Why not get your own copy of the movie by entering the raffle ($5 tickets) - basket valued between $50-$100?
Memento (click to view trailer) written and directed by Christopher Nolan and starring Guy Pearce, Carrie-Anne Moss and Joe Pantoliano. Guy Pearce as Leonard Shelby, a man with anterograde amnesia which renders his brain unable to store new memories. During the opening credits, (which portrays the end of the story) it is shown that Leonard kills Teddy (Joe Pantoliano) for the rape and murder of his wife based on information provided by Natalie (Carrie-Anne Moss).
