2010 Awardee of the NCPF Journalism Prize |
NCPF would like to introduce the Awardee for the 2010 NCPF Journalism Prize, Anne Johnson.
The NCPF Medical Journalism Award recognizes and encourages outstanding journalism that promotes mental health and contributes to the understanding of psychoanalysis among the general public. A $1,000 award is given annually to a student at the UNC-CH School of Journalism and Mass Communication who presents the strongest proposal for a journalism project related to mental health in any media.
Ms. Johnson is currently working on her project and would like to extend the following invitation to our readers:
Would you like to share your experience with the broader public?
Science writer Anne Johnson is looking for volunteers willing to be interviewed about their experience with psychoanalysis. The goal of the project is to increase the public's understanding of psychoanalysis and what it has to offer.
Anne is seeking volunteers who are currently undergoing analysis and are willing to speak about why they chose psychoanalysis, what makes it different from other approaches to mental health, and some of the main tools or insights they've gained from their treatment. Interviews will focus on psychoanalysis generally, not on volunteers' specific psychological concerns. Anne is committed to respecting your boundaries; volunteers will have a chance to review their quotes before anything is made public. To learn more, please contact Anne Johnson at afj@email.unc.edu by Thursday, May 20. |

We Asked, You Answered |
Thank you to all of those who participated in our April Poll. The winner of the April raffle who will be receiving the DVD set is Ravita Omabu Okafor, MSW. Congratulations!
Last month we asked you, our readers, "What influences you the most when choosing a conference? Cost, location, speaker, topic or variety
We asked and you answered. As we look toward planning our programs and/or conference for the next membership year, NCPF felt it was important to know what factors that most influence our constituents when they are selecting conferences. Here is what we learned: The most influential component is the actual topic being discussed with cost coming in second. It was surprising to learn that the variety in the program and location had little to no influence in determining attendance, but people felt the person speaking was slightly influential at 20% answering it as their top choice.
