An Intellectual Feast from Jonathan Shedler: the Efficacy of Psychodynamic Treatment
Dr. Gourguechon
Prudence Gourguechon, MD, President of APsaA shares the following:

Something stunning has just occurred in the psychology literature.  The premier journal in psychology, The American Psychologist, has just published  (February, 2010) an article by University of Colorado researcher Jonathan Shedler, Ph.D. that  challenges prevailing thinking about psychotherapy by using  multiple  sophisticated meta-analyses of psychodynamic therapy and other psychological and pharmacological treatments. Shedler focuses on effect sizes which were found to be far more robust in the psychodynamic treatments than expected by many.  Click here to view Shedler's article.

Dear Colleagues and Friends of NCPF,

Our March calendar seems to be packed full of professional enriching programs. Please take some time to look through what is being offered.

We love your suggestions on how to improve these announcements. A request was made to identify which programs have a psychoanalytic focused.

In response we have created a new section dedicated to these programs. The NC Psychoanalytic Society's scientific programs will be featured in this new section along with others throughout the country. These programs are open to all clinicians. MindPlay are discussions after selected PlayMakers shows. Discussions are lead by NC Psychoanalytic Society members. We will continue to have a dedicated section for the Psychoanalytic Education Center of the Carolinas and their class offerings.

We invite and welcome you to attend and meet us at the psychoanalytic programs listed in the new Psychoanalytic focused program section.
